"Shane...wake up!" Ryan shook Shane awake. He groans in annoyance.
"God...what?" He mumbled.
"I've got an amazing idea!" Ryan says. He's already dressed and showered. Shane groaned and rolled over, looking at the wall.
"I don't wanna hear it, Ryan. I'm a little busy...uh...sleeping." Shane mumbles softly. Ryan sighs. He shakes Shane again. Shane doesn't respond.
"You're a jerk, Shane," Ryan says.
"I know," Shane mumbles. "It clearly keeps me awake at night." Ryan chuckled, then he heard laughing. Laughing that wasn't his or Shane's.
"Did you hear that?" Ryan asks. Shane shoots up and jumps out of bed. He immediately runs to his clothes and puts them on. Ryan looks strangely at Shane. Why did Shane now get up so fast? "Did you hear that!?" Ryan repeats. Shane turns to his friend with a forced smile.
"Hear what?" He asks. Ryan gives Shane a concerned look. "Let's go," Shane says. Ryan shakes his head softly in disbelief but follows Shane out the door.
Tell him
Ryan hears before he closes the door. He turns to look at the room. Shane looks worriedly at Ryan.
"What's wrong?" He asks. Ryan hesitates.
"Did you hear that?" He asks. Shane looks in the room as well.
"Hear what?" He asks. He grabs Ryan's shoulder and gently pulls him towards the exit. "Come on. We've got a case to solve!" He laughs. Ryan slowly closes the door, still skeptical about what he heard. He wasn't sure if he heard 'tell him' or 'kill him'. Ryan isn't even sure who he is.
...
"How are we gonna make ourselves victims, Ryan?" Shane asks. Ryan points to him and smiles. He then pulls out a piece of paper. "Ryan?" Shane asks a little more seriously.
"Shane," Ryan repeats in the same tone. His voice then turns gleeful. "Last night, I remembered where the murderer is gonna strike next. It's on Pinecrest Drive. At the house 1543 tonight. I convinced the people there to go out of town and that the murderer is after them next. I also told them that me and you would be looking after the house, making sure nothing gets taken or anything like that. But, really, we're going to stay the night there and wait for the break-in. BOOM!" Ryan shot his hands in the air, then brought them back on the table. Shane takes a sip of his coffee.
"That is seriously a great idea Ryan," Shane says. "But, how did you actually convince them to leave?" Ryan shrugs, but smiles.
"I told them that the murderer is coming and that we would be protecting the house." He said.
"And they believed you?" Shane says, a little joy in his voice. Ryan laughs.
"No, not at first. They wondered how we knew. I told them that the murderer has a pattern. They only go for people that had something to do with their past." Ryan clears. Shane nods, understanding.
"How did they believe you that you knew that?" Shane asks.
"I told them that I saw what they did and I used to know the people living in that house" Ryan replies. Shane sighs but smiles.
"Alright then," Shane says, getting up. "Let's go." Ryan gets up and walks to the door. Something stops Shane. Ryan turns around, noticing Shane isn't behind him.
"What's wrong?" Ryan asks. Shane smiles a soft and kind smile.
"I forgot something up in the room. I'll be down in a bit." He says. Shane turns around and quickly goes to their room. He's gone before Ryan can say anything. Instead, Ryan waits outside.
...
Shane's P.O.V
I enter the room, then close the door behind me. I look at the wall Ryan's bed is next too.
"What?" I ask with a stern and annoyed voice.
"What are you doing?" She asks. She's a friend of mine. We've known each other for a while. Even before Ryan and I went to that house. "You're not supposed to solve the crime, Shane." She says.
"She's right." My other friend said. I groaned again. Then laughed.
"Both of you are just upset because I won't let you scare Ryan any more than you did that one day, and you're upset because I took your goddamn bridge," I shout at him. He growls at me, flaring his teeth. I scoff with a smile.
"G," She says. Goatman calms down. We just call him G or GM. "Shane, you really need to think about this before you go any further. Please." She gets up and walks over to me. She's even shorter than Ryan, which is funny (since she's a child), but knowing what she can do isn't.
"Sal, I've got it," I reassure her. She groans.
"Shane, we care about you. Not all demons are horrible. Unless you're Sallie," GM says.
"HEY!" Sallie yells at him. "You-"
"But you've got to tell him. You've got to tell Ryan you're a demon and that other thing." GM tells me.
"I'm not ready for that. He'll get upset with me because I've been lying to him." I say. All the ways that could go wrong rush through my head.
"The longer you take to tell Ryan, the more upset he will become with you," Sallie says. "If you just tell Ryan the truth, he'll understand. And if he does get mad at you, he's a really reasonable guy. He'll forgive you." She reassures me. It helps a little, but not much.
"Sallie, Ryan won't get it. He's human." GM tells her.
"No, I know. It's just that Ryan will understand why Shane never told him before." She says. GM sighs.
"No, Sallie, no. Ryan is human. Shane is a demon. We are demons. Ryan will not understand why Shane never told him because Ryan's not a demon." GM says in a mad but calm sarcastic tone.
"Why're you talking to me like I'm 5?" She asked. Sallie's sweet and loyal, but mean and sour sometimes. I've known her a lot longer that Goatman and as to why...eh. That's a story for another time.
"Stop," I say. They both stare at me. "I don't want to talk about it. I'll tell Ryan when I'm ready. But right now just isn't the time." I say. I open the door and leave to find Ryan.
...
"Do you think he knows we're actually trying to help him go home?" GM asks.
"Definitely not, but he'll figure it out." She says. GM nods. Sallie has more empathy for Shane than Goatman does and it irritates her.
