I walk over to Louis' house prepared to hear him out. Before I can even ring the doorbell the door opens and Louis stands right before me.
"So?" I ask masking my mixed emotions with a look of irritation.
"Look, I can explain --" he starts but I cut him off with a "Yeah, yeah. So where is it?"
"What do you mean?" he says looking startled but quickly recovering, trying to take my hand in his but I pull away sharply.
"The explanation, obviously. Am I going to stand out here or will it come to your mind to invite me in?" I tell him coldly.
"Of course, of course, come in. Sit down. Make yourself at home."
I brush past him, entering the living room and about to sit down when he pulls me into his lap sitting on a comfortable beige armchair. I struggle out of his grip unsuccessfully and finally calm down when I see I'm not getting anywhere.
"Alright, let's start with Hillary. I know this is going to be hard to believe but she's just an ex who can't get over me. We have absolutely nothing going on with each other except my hatred towards her. She just barged in here today," he says but is interrupted by the doorbell ringing.
"I'll be right back. Stay here," he tells me.
"That's what you said last time so now there's no way I'm sitting still," I argue. We head to the door and who might be there but Hillary, the rich bitch. Louis looks at me and then opens the door slowly. She bounds in saying, "Hi, hubby. How's it been without me?"
"Hubby?" I say slowly sounding it out.
"Yeah, he's my husband. Didn't he tell you?" she asks turning to Louis for an explanation.
"Look, Callie, I can explain," he reassures me.
"That's the second fucking time I've heard that from you today. I shouldn't have listened to you the first time and I'm definitely not making the same mistake this time. Have fun, newlyweds," I shout at them sauntering out the door. But all that sauntering is over by the time I'm out the door.
Instead of going home this time where Evelyn might convince me to give Louis a third chance I jump in my car and start driving not quite sure of my destination. A wild thought comes to my head. How about suicide? No one would find me and I'd be safe from people with alter egos. I speed up trying to hit the car in front of me. But what if there's a child in that car? What if the woman behind the wheel is pregnant? What if a person except me dies? I think up a better idea instead. I'll drive off the bridge into the river. No one will get hurt except me. As I continue to drive I see a Che Bar on the side. I pull into their parking lot and order a shot of vodka. The bartender hands it to me and I swallow it down. Deciding to get really drunk I repeat it about ten times and head out slowly feeling my legs wobble under me. Now's the time. Now or never. I stick the key into the ignition and back out of the parking lot. I pick up the speed from 50 to 60, 60 to 70 continuing until 120. I let go of the wheel. The last thing I remember is a sharp pain as my head hits the steering wheel and everything goes black as if a stage curtain is coming down on my life.
