"Louis, where are my boots?" I yell through the house hoping for a response. A pair of arms slowly slink around my waist while a voice behind me whispers "Maybe I know, maybe I don't. What's in it for me?
"Two carrots and a kiss," I say, giggling and turning around.
I see Louis's grinning face as he smashes his lips onto mine. Wrapping his arms around my waist he lifts me up, my back up against the wall.
"Louis, I need to go," I say, giggling against his lips. "I have school."
"Alright," he groans, "but we are continuing this when we get home."
"We?"
"You didn't think I was going to stay home all day. I have to get recording with the boys."
"Invite them over for dinner. I'll buy some turkey."
"Sounds great. Why do I never get this kind of special treatment?"
"You do," I say, laughing and backing out of the door, blowing a kiss.
Louis' POV
Yeah right, recording with the boys. That'll definitely work, especially with Niall out of town. But she doesn't know that, so I can complete my mission for today, going to Tiffany and Co. to pick up the matching necklaces and the promise ring I ordered. Although we're not ready to get married I still want to make our relationship official in some way. As for inviting the boys over, I can make up some excuse about them wanting to spend time with their girls. Tonight's a night just for us.
Walking into Tiffany's I go to the counter and clear my throat to signal the clerk. She swivels around to look at me. She gasps and starts whisper-screaming.
"You're the Louis Tomlinson. Am I dreaming?"
"No, you're not. Look, I'm just a regular customer who got a call saying my order was in."
"Oh, I understand. You're proposing to Callie."
At this point she is getting really annoying. "No, I'm not. Look, can you just get me my order?"
She stares for a few more seconds and then goes back to get the order. She gets it and I pay for it.
"Thanks," I say nicely.
"No problem. Any time," she replies, winking.
Heading back home I turn on the radio. What should be on but Callie and Evelyn's new single. Turning the volume up I sing along and think of all the times I'd heard her sing or hum it to herself.
Callie's POV
Louis texted me saying the boys couldn't make it but I still bought turkey for dinner.
Now, scrolling through my phone, I hear the front door open and rush to see Louis standing in the doorway. He pulls me into a hug, gripping me tightly. We stay that way for a few minutes silently until I say, "Dinner's on the table. Go wash up."
"Okay, okay," he sighs, reluctantly letting go.
Slowly making his way up the stairs I seize the opportunity to lightly smack his bum, making him turn around with a smirk. He starts going down the stairs to me again.
"Louis, I mean it. If you don't go upstairs right this second there will be no dinner today."
Sighing again he runs to our bathroom and I go sit down at the table, filling our plates. Just as I sit down he comes downstairs and we both start to eat.
"How was recording today?"
Louis' POV
"How was recording today?" Callie asks.
Hmm, good question. One that I wouldn't know the answer to.
"It was alright. Mostly us fooling around."
"Ah, so it was just a normal day for you."
"Yep."
We continue talking about nothing and then the time comes when we finish our dinner. Heading to the kitchen with our dishes, we get into position to wash them. Now is a great time to bring up the questions burning inside me.
"Callie," I say as she hands me the first dish to dry. I breathe deeply and continue. "Do you want to be with me forever?"
She stops washing and turns to face me. "Of course, you know that."
Letting out a breath I didn't realize I was holding in I say, "Actually you never told me."
She starts to laugh. Before she realizes what I am doing she is against the wall, my lips on hers, her fingers tangled in my hair. This time I'm the one to pull back. "Callie," I say, "can we go for a walk together?" She nods silently.
We walk, letting our feet guide us. They lead us to a little clearing with a frozen-over pond. Now is the time. Now or never.
Slowly coming to a stop I get down on one knee, looking up into Callie's shocked expression. I take out the box with the ring and open it.
"I know that we are not ready for marriage yet but I know one more thing. I love you and never want to let go. Our relationship hasn't been perfect but those mistakes have always made us more interesting. Callie May Evans, do you promise that from now on we'll never forget our love despite the rough patches we go through? Do you promise that our hearts belong to each other?"
The tears well up in her eyes and she nods eagerly. Relieved, I get up and slip the ring on. I press my lips to hers and she kisses back. Picking her up I twirl her in my arms, never wanting to let go.
