After a few days of staying at my house my parents leave and Violet moves in with us. Now that she's mentioned her pregnancy I start noticing her small but evident bump. Today is her ultrasound day and I have been begging her for the past week to go with her, my excuse being that someday I too will be pregnant and I need to know what is going to happen at my appointments. She finally relented yesterday and now I am going through my closet for an outfit while Louis lies on the bed, an amused look on his face.
I turn around to ask him something and scream when I see he is no longer on the bed but right in front of me. I swat him on the arm and he swats back. We start having a pillow fight, caught up in the playful moment. When the energy is drained out of us we fall back onto the bed panting. Louis wraps his arm around me while I trace the design on his tank top.
"Callie," he starts talking to me, "I was thinking while you were picking out your outfit and..."
"Wow, you were thinking?" I ask teasingly.
"Hey," he says tightening his grip. "Anyway, I was wondering if we should try living together. Maybe you could move in to my house and let Violet and Evelyn live here."
I sit up startled by his proposal. "Wha--I mean, of course I would love that," I shriek, joyful tears welling in my eyes.
"Great. I'll begin the move today while you're at the gynecologist's office," he tells me, a relieved expression taking over his face. He sits up while I exchange my pajamas for my new outfit, catching the clothes I throw at him.

Sitting in the office while Violet gets a jellylike substance rubbed on her stomach is not the best experience for someone who vomits easily. I keep my eyes glued to Violet's face when I talk to her making sure not to look at the substance.
"So, who's the father?" I ask her uncertain where to start. As soon as the words fly out of my mouth I immediately regret them not wanting to offend her. She, however, does not seem fazed.
"It's my old boyfriend. The day I wanted to tell him I was so excited that we would be having a child together until I looked out the window and saw him making out with a brunette on a bench down below. I hightailed my ass--" At this point she looks at the doctor as she quickly realizes what she said and seeing that he is preoccupied by the computer screen continues, "right out of there. He saw me and tried getting in touch with me but I blocked him out of my life."
She says this all with no emotion creeping onto her face. In her place tears would have been streaming down my face. The doctor turns to her and says "I have good news and bad news. Which one first?"
I see a nervous look take over her face and squeeze her hand in reassurance. Bravely she squares her jaw and says "Bad news."
"The baby will be autistic," he announces but when seeing the tears come to her face he quickly adds, "but the good news is that it is a mild case of autism and you're having a girl."
Violet still looks as thought someone has run a dagger through her heart. We back out of the room slowly and head home.
In the car I ask Violet "So what are you going to do?"
"I'll try my best. It's mild, as the doctor said so it might fade away as she gets older."
"That's not what I mean and you know it. How about your ex? Are you going to tell him?"
"Do you think I should? He does deserve a reminder of me, doesn't he?"
"Yes. You should tell him now. You just have to stand in the doorway, say the three words, and then forget him. I can drive you and come in with you," I offer.
"Can you please do that for me? Here, let me punch the address into the GPS," she replies leaing over to type the address.
"It's a hit-and-run," I say before pushing on the gas pedal...hard.
Violet's POV
Shaking all over I get out of the car unsteadily. The peeling paint, the eternal odor of trash, the creaking front door, it all seems as if from another life but faintly familiar. In the elevator to the third floor I close my eyes forcing the nauseousness from my body. The elevator lurches to a stop and I walk in straight line before Callie. She rings the doorbell from me and steps aside. From within the apartment I hear two voices, a male and a female. Then the door slowly opens. Trying to keep my calm I look up at my boyfriend, Russell, and announce "I'm pregnant with your baby" before running down the hall and down the stairs with Callie at my side. I hear footsteps banging on the stairs above and we zoom into the car. Turning the ignition on we take off just in time to see Russell, looking confused, at the doorway.
"We did it!" I yell panting heavily. She leans in for a high five and I hug her instead, taking her by surprise. I feel the salty sting of tears behind my eyes saying "Thank you for everything, Callie."
"There's more where it came from. Also, it's the least I could do for a girl who saved my life from myself."
The remainder of the car ride passes in silence until we pull up to the driveway and see Evelyn standing, a worried expression on her face, by the garage door. Evelyn's the most collected girl I've ever seen. One thought races through my head. Not only is she in trouble but Niall is also judging by her look.
