Chapter 25

Awaking what I suspect is a day after everything went black I panic when I look around at asylum-white walls with only posters of the human anatomy around me. I look at myself and see needles in me as well as some sensors on my chest. I feel very drowsy as if someone has pumped millions of ounces of laxative into me. Hearing the door creak open I sit up with difficulty in my bed. A girl takes a seat on the chair next to me. She looks so official wearing a simple black short-sleeved dress, a white cardigan and black pumps with her Louis Vuitton purse on her lap. Someone who looks like her boyfriend stands behind her rubbing her shoulders. I spot a boy maybe a few years older than me standing at the side, a look of guilt on his face. I start bombarding the girl with questions.

"Who are you all? Where am I? What am I doing here?" I ask.

"I'm Evelyn, this is Niall, that's Louis. You're at the hospital because you got into a car accident. Wait, you don't remember anything?" she asks nervously.

"Um, no," I say reacting to her nervousness.

"Here, let me take it from here," Louis shoos Evelyn and Niall away.

"Who are you?" I ask him.

"I'm your fiancé. We have a child staying with my mother for now because you're in the hospital. We share a big home in Doncaster and Evelyn lives next door to us. She is dating Niall and everything in our world is fab-u-lous," he kisses me gently on my forehead.

"Almost too good to be true," I mutter to myself.

"What'd you say, honey?" he asks me his eyes sparkling from seeing me well and alive.

"Oh, nothing," I tell him snapping back to reality. The person who I assume is my doctor rushes in, a worried look on his face.

"Niall and Evelyn told me everything." He turns to Louis saying "This can sometimes happen after an accident. Just take good care of her. Don't leave her alone and try to stimulate her memory."

"Doctor?" I ask. He turns to me gesturing for me to speak.

"I was wondering what happened to me and what injuries I've suffered."

"Well, you got into an accident and were knocked unconscious. We had to do an emergency operation because of some internal bleeding while you were asleep. That was about..." he pauses looking at his watch, "twelve hours ago. You should be able to go home in a few days." The doctor rushes out hurriedly.

"Louis, can you sit with me so I'm not alone?"

"Sure, babe, just move over a bit," he tells me gently. He lies next to me his arm wrapped around me. Feeling his warm body against me makes me want to believe everything he's said and just slip into a trance. A trance where everything is alright, where I'm not lying useless in a hospital bed, and most importantly a trance which no one can take me out of. Snapped out of my thoughts by a harsh knock at the door and a "Callie, it's your parents. We're coming in" I sit up in bed while Louis slips under lying underneath the bed.

My mother rushes over to me kissing my forehead again and again asking "Honey, are you alright? What made you do this?"

"Mum, everything's alright. I got into an accident, they say."

At this point my father, looking crisp in his new tailored suit, pipes in.

"I always told you shouldn't drive drunk. Now look where it's gotten you. Wait, they say? What do you mean by that?"

"Mother, Father, I don't remember anyhting. That's the only thing and it's not that major. The doctors say I should be remembering things bit by bit."

"Oh, my poor love," my mother bursts into tears hugging me tight.

"Ahem, Adrianna. Remember we have a flight at 4:00?"

Oh, yes, yes. Honey, we'll have to leave you soon. We have a flight to Brazil in a few hours."

"Ooh, will you please stay with me as long as you can?" I ask them playing a role of a devoted daughter. I feel something hit the bed from underneath knowing it's Louis' hand. Giggling silently, I motion my mother and father onto the bedside chairs. We talk about college, business and the latest fashion until they kiss me goodbye reluctantly leaving. As soon as I hear the door softly shut behind them Louis slides out from under the bed sitting on the chair next to me.

"Why did you hide from them?" I ask curiously.

"Well, they don't really like me especially since I got you pregnant. They wouldn't like that I'm in your hospital room alone with you."

"So that's why," I finally understand.

"Yeah. How about we play Monopoly? I snuck it in through the guards," he whispers as if someone's listening to know what a criminal he is.

I laugh nodding my head. We play for a few hours through a few arguments about property and money until my eyes close. The last things I hear before I fall asleep are "Sleep tight. Don't let the bed bugs bite." Just like my mother used to tell me 18 years ago.

Hey guys,

For some this news will be sad. For some this will be relieving. I'm not going to sugarcoat this. I'm giving this story exactly a week to gain some reads. If it doesn't I'm deleting it. If I do maybe I'll come back one day to write this story again. I feel like no one cares or reads this. I've given it 25 chapters/chances to get some more reads.
