"Honey, have you missed us?" my mother asks, leaning in for a hug.

At the same time I spot Niall and Louis standing frozen in the doorway.

"Who is this?" my father asks gruffly. Thankfully Evelyn comes to my rescue and tells him "This is Niall, my fiance, and this is his friend, Louis. Come, let me show you how we have decorated the backyard."

"You still have not told them about me?" Louis asks me, a strand of anxiety threaded into his voice.

"I will, today. I promise you. They'll learn to like you. Don't worry," I reassure him placing a soft kiss on his lips.

We pull away abruptly as my parents come back with Evelyn. Thankfully they're absorbed in their phones so they do not see us part. Clearing my throat I pull their attention away from their cell phones and prepare to make the announcement.

"Evelyn told us everything," my mother exclaims before I have the chance to open my mouth.

"She did?" I ask raising my eyebrows in question to Evelyn.

"It's not a secret. Now we all know that you're the star student in school. Boycotting boyfriends was a smart move on your part. They only distract you," my mother continues, a big grin on her face.

"Actually, Mom, things have changed," I say nervously. I feel Louis come to my side wrapping his arms around my waist.

"Like what?" she asks her face slowly turning red.

"I discarded my boycott. I don't know if you ever met Louis during the X Factora," I say gesturing to Louis, "but his band was our guest coach and did a few performances with us. We met each other again a few weeks ago and are now dating whereas Evelyn and Niall are engaged."

My mother's face lights up on the surface but I can still see a hint of frustration. She's trying to encourage me to make my own decisions but she thinks I haven't learned my lesson about boyfriends. After Emmett I did learn my lesson and Louis had to earn my trust. My father, however, seems perfectly happy with my decision and heads to shake Louis' hand.

"So, you're a singer? Do you drink? What record label are you signed with? Who were you influenced by? Do you have any kids? Do--" my father questions Louis but I cut him off when it starts to get out of hand.

"Daddy, we're all tired. How about we order take-out sushi and relax?" I step in.

Everyone nods and we order by phone. When the delivery comes we pay and start to eat right away. Louis and I share a box feeding each other like generic lovebirds.

"So...what...do...your...parents...say...about...the...wedding?" my mother asks Evelyn between mouthfuls.

"They actually don't know yet," Evelyn mumbles.

"We can try to prepare them for the news. I know they can be a little harsh at times but they're just trying to protect their baby," my mom replies.

Keeping up with the conversation my father asks Violet about her life.

"Well, I'm pregnant," she announces.

"My father asks "Are you married?"

"No, I'm renting my parents' basement," Evelyn says.

My mother gasps and I tell Violet "There is no way. You're living here for free from now on. We'll go to your parents afterwards and gather all your stuff. You can live here for as long as you want."

Violet tries not to let the tears gathering in her eyes shed and wipes them away.

"Thank you so much," she says hugging me tightly.

"It's the least I can do for a friend who's changed me permanently for the better."
