Dylan
"Well done, I bet that would give her a piece of our minds." I declared. She paused and placed her phone down after the calls she made, "I don't think it's a good idea, what if it affects our friendship?"
I shrugged, "Then she'd regret it?" She stood, "Okay why am I doing this? This is wrong! I love Brayleigh, don't get me wrong, she's a lovable friend and I'm not ready to lose her or our friendship."
I remembered the times we hung out, the times we comforted each other, the kiss, my confession to her. "You're right, why am I even doing this?" I stood up lobbed a shirt over my body and turned to look at her.
My eyes lingered a little too long at her lips, and I quickly looked away, I could sense her shifting uncomfortably as she picked her dressings. She spoke, "The others invited me to Mark's soccer match do you want to join?"
"They actually asked me too......"
"Oh my gad! What did you tell them?"
"I told them I was with someone."
"Oh no! I said the exact same thing! They're going to suspect something."
"It's fine we can just say we went to the beach together." She frowned, and I then remembered that she came from the beach, "Oh. Then we should go in our separate ways......"
Suddenly, she burst out laughing, "Separate ways? You've got to be kidding, you make it sound so depressing! But alright then, chow, see you later!" She stood and grabbed her stuff, winked and left.
The stadium was huge and the noise the people made inside was deafening, I searched around for the others only to notice that both Theresa and Mark were part of the match. I searched around for the others, and sure enough, I saw Paul and Brayleigh laughing at joking at the front row, two seats beside either of them.
I was so caught up with jealousy, I didn't notice that the match had ended and people had started to take their leaves. I stomped towards the two and accidentally hit someone's drink down, and then I hit someone in the shoulder before tripping over someone's bag. To make it worse, I tripped over someone's leg and almost fell face down on the floor. I closed my eyes and my survival instincts kicked in, but before my face touched the ground, a person held my shirt from the back, strangling my neck.
That was when I noticed that both Paul and Brayleigh had turned around to look at me, or should I say the person who saved me. "Watch your steps, bro." I froze at the voice of Mark. I spun around to watch a sweaty Mark shoving his hair back.
Behind Mark, Emily had showed up, she was shooting awkward glances at Brayleigh and she clearly looked embarrassed and regretful, but she surprisingly commented, "Well look who came out a sweaty mess and hopefully a winner?" Mark looked shocked to see her, but his expression changed slightly, "Actually, Ems, we lost......"
"It's alright, you were still a hero twice today." A lovely voice echoed behind us and we all turned to look at a beaming Brayleigh. "Yes thanks, sweetheart, and may I ask where you two hipsters ran off to?"
She excitedly explained, "I kicked one of those cheerleaders butts just before the match entered, and saved Mr guitarist from being hypnotized by those witches." Mark's eyes widened and my lips split into a huge smile, Paul roared into laughter, "Ye something like this, just not that dramatic." Theresa too had joined us, "So why not we all get hypnotized by some pizza?"
We all agreed and headed off at once.
Brayleigh
Everyone was busily tucking in on their pizza, but I couldn't help but feel a hard stare coming from the person right in front of me. I looked up and found Dylan staring at me. We both blushed embarrassingly and looked back down.
I was sitting on a bench beside Emily and enjoying the cool breeze. She finally spoke something, "Look I'm really sorry, about this morning. I was being a complete pain in the ass, and an idiot. Will you accept my most sincere apology?" I continued staring forward into blank space. "I understand if you're still mad at me, I shouldn't have assumed you cancelled on me, let alone cancel on you. You didn't deserve that."
After a while, I smiled into her eyes, "It's okay."
"Still friends?"
"The best of friends."
"Don't ever ditch me again!"
"Don't ever cancel on me again!"
"Promise?"
"Promise!" We curved our pinkies together and moved into a tight embrace. Paul was watching from behind and I shot him a thumbs up mouthing a 'thank you' together. He nodded and waved me away.
We sat down and chat for what seemed like an hour and finally departed. Mark walked over to me, "Need a ride?" I shook my head, " I've got my car."
"Alright then. Can I have a moment with you?"
"Sure." We walked to the beach and sat together. I saw him taking something out from his pocket. A glanced over curiously he took out a box and opened it. "Oh my gosh, Mark." It was a sparkly necklace. He reached into his shirt and pulled a similar one out. "It's gorgeous, Mark." I surveyed the necklace. "Brayleigh."
"Hmm?"
"Do you love me?" I stared into his deep dark eyes, "Yes, of course!"
"Do you want me?"
"Are you playing with me?"
"Of course not!"
"You know the answer!" I crossed my arms stubbornly and stared even harder.
"Please, just say it, I like it when you say it." He begged with those puppy eyes, those I fell in love it. "Mark," I breathed, "I hate it when you give me those puppy eyes, you make me want you so much, till I love you like crazy."
"You will never regret those words, and I'm telling you, if you ever dare to threaten me with revenge, you will never leave the bed a virgin!" He growled deep and desperate. I looked at the necklaces, "Where in the world did you find so much money to buy those?"
He explained, "My dad is a rich and successful businessman." I nodded understandingly. "Listen, Brayleigh, my life is like a story, and you are that big character in my life, one day without you, and my book sheds it's pages and rots away."
"I will never leave you, I swear." He chained the necklace around me, "I swear too." He pulled me into the kiss, and I was so certain life would always be like that, that it will never change, that nothing can step between us, but I was so wrong and unprepared of what lays beyond me. By so, I meant very oblivious.
The necklaces!
