Day 1:
It was a long and treacherous day. I didn't even catch a wink of sleep let alone eat. I was in no mood and of course my parents never noticed. "Honey, help me do the laundry, please." Mum yell from the kitchen as she applied her long session of heavy make up. "Sweetie, could you help me drop this check on your way to work later? I'm in a hurry." Dad yelled from his room. "Okay. Okay." I hurried to do the laundry just as mum yelled again, "Honey, don't forget to do the dishes." and "Honey, remember to pick Carlo up from school."
She was afraid I forget to pick Carlo just like how I forgot to...... I pushed the thought back and focused on the chores. My patience was hanging loosely today. One more push and I may lose it and fall. I was afraid I would not be able to get back up so I stayed strong and held my ground. "Ye, sure." I replied through gritted teeth. "Sis, get me the cereal package!" Carlo mumbled eyes half open. "Er ye sure." I quickly grabbed it and headed to do the dishes. "and the milk." He added. I took that from the fridge and toss it at him too.
As I was washing the dishes, Carlo spoke, "You're awfully quiet today. What's up?" I shook my head. "Just tired."
"Oh okay then see you after school." He babbled eyes not leaving his phone. "Ye whatever." He looked up. "What?" His eyebrows raised, "Nothing." He mumbled something and walked away. I rolled my eyes and focused on the last of the dishes. "Honey, can you call in for the maid. What is she doing? Does she not want her profit?"
"Ye alright." I mingled on the last bowl and as soon as I was done I went to call Maria. "Hello?" The receiver echoed Maria's voice. "Hello Maria, just checking, when will you be coming in today?" At the background, mum was yelling at me about Maria, "That woman, how can she just come in late and expect it to be acceptable, it mustn't happen again. Ask her when she's coming, tell her there will be a decrease in today's earnings. Right, you can get her to drop the check to. Make sure she cleans the house especially the toil—"
"Mum!" I lost my patience. "Can you give me a moment? I am trying to hear what Maria has to say!" She looked shock but quickly recovered her posture and I returned my attention to Maria, "What was it again? I couldn't hear you over my mother's hysterical screaming." I said low enough such that mum wouldn't hear."
"Oh yes. I am sorry. Apologies mam I will be heading over in five. Give me a moment."
"Note that your earnings will be lower today. Late coming is simply unacceptable in my household."
"Yes mam, I will keep that in mind." I hung up and turned around to find mum already gone. As usual.
Today was boring. My heart ached at the thought of me and Dylan's argument. More like warship... I giggled inside, but stopped when his words drowned me again.
"Tell me you don't have the slightest but of interest for him, that you want nothing, nothing to do with him. Tell him not to go near you, to f*k off! Tell me you'll do that!"
Why didn't I?
I had this sudden urge to call Mark, to text him to tell him I'm sorry for leaving him. I picked up my phone and called his number. It went straight to his voicemail, "Hey sup, Mark here, call me back later!" He's so sweet, his voice itself calmed my inner being. My subconscious continued yelling Dylan's name but I ignored it.
"Talking to yourself?" A voice interrupted my glorious thoughts and I screamed, "Ah!" I giggled at my own remark, and turned around to scowl at the Carlo. "What?"
"I'm leaving for school, grouch. Mum just left for some ridiculous meeting, dad's in his office..." I was frowning at him. "What?" He inquired. "I didn't ask? And I don't care."
