Dylan
I felt guilt, guilt towards Brayleigh, the only thoughts I had were the time when Mark and Brayleigh had kissed, had flirted. I was jealous.
The two had fled off to the beach and were talking, that was when I saw Mark retrieve something from his pocket. Oh god! He was proposing to her. Anger flared in me, jealousy and envy welled in me, my eyes gleaming with tears.
For a moment, I had sworn Brayleigh felt my presence, her eyes swept across me and she looked back at Mark. Why was I growing feelings for her? This was insane! My heart belongs to Delilah, I swear it still does, but I couldn't help but feel the same way towards Brayleigh, and then Emily's face appeared in front of me. I screamed and kicked a rock to disperse the agony in me.
Now, I am lying in bed, contemplating whether to call Brayleigh to apologize for the night I stormed off in a flurry of hurt and anger.
In the end, I called Ems. "Hello?" Her sweet voice--- I cut myself off. What the hell, Dylan? "Look, I'm extremely sorry---" This time, she cut me off. "No I should be the sorry one. Dating my great friend's ex I wasn't thinking straight, and then turning against my other best friend, I felt messed up."
"Listen Emily, I need help."
"For?"
"Brayleigh."
"OH MY GOD! Is she okay? What happened? Is she hurt? I'm coming, oh dear God please---"
"NO no no. Stop, Emily!"
"What!?"
"I'm falling for her."
"What the f---" I've grown frustrated by the seconds wondering if t was a good idea calling her. "Will you listen?"
"I'm all ears......"
"Look, I have been staring at her lately, I find myself constantly being jealous at her and Mark, it's f*king wrong but promise me you won't breathe a single word I said to you to her."
"Ya I swear, pinkie swear."
"You better or you're going to have to watch out for your---" For your what panties? I'm driving myself nuts, coconuts!
"Goodnight, Dylan."
"Goodnight, Ems."
"Love you, bye!" The line went dead and I stared at my phone. Did she just say love you? The phone screamed silence and I sighed, I have to find a way to move on, quick before I fall in too deep, both to Emily and Brayleigh. A voice screamed.
Only Brayleigh, it wouldn't hurt to date Emily.
A more deafening scream rattled in my head. What would Brayleigh think of you, idiot? She has Mark, she and I were never a thing.
I slammed my face with a pillow tried to silence the thoughts and playbacks in me, and surprisingly, I passed out in a flicker of the lights.
Brayleigh
I headed home flushed by Mark's words. My cheeks were still burning from the way her stared at me, eyes so lovingly guarding over me, and finger caressing my cheeks as I laid on his chest. His deep voice rumbling through me and echoing in my head, "I love you." I smiled at the memory.
Suddenly, Dylan's face appeared in front of me but the moment I saw Carlo's face when he walked out of bed, I wiped him to the back of my head. His eyes had dark rims around it, his hair was an uncombed mess, he was shirtless and his eyes expressed all the sorrow in him. My guess was that he has been taking his break up with Emma very hard on himself.
