I can't believe that I'm minutes away from proposing to the love of my life.

I'm trying to clip another picture to these string lights but my hands are so sweaty that I can't seem to hang onto the clip for the life of me. Why am I so nervous? She's going to say yes, right?

"Let me help, man." Scott chuckles and grabs the clip and picture from me, securely placing it so that it won't fall. "You're really that nervous?"

I'm glad that he was able to help me because otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get all of this done. He went to the store to pick up all of the supplies I needed while I picked out the ring. Casey made up some excuse to hang out with Reina after work to stall her in order for us to have more time. I'm grateful for that because we barely got everything finished.

"I mean, I kind of am." I shrug, wiping my palms on my pants. "She could say no."

An immediate laugh escapes Scott's mouth. "Justin..." he deadpans. "Are you kidding me? After she sees all of this there's no way she could say no."

I look around at the room to make sure everything is perfect. As soon as she opens the door there's a trail of rose petals and candles leading into the living room, where there's a huge heart made of rose petals that I'm standing in waiting for her. I put twinkling lights all over the living room with our pictures attached like I did for her before, only this time I'm hoping to get a better reaction.

"Alright man." Scott lets out a sigh and looks around the room. "I think everything's set. I'll get everything ready out back while you do your thing in here."

In the backyard we put more of the twinkling lights and we've got beer pong set up, a table of liquor and stuff to make mixed drinks with, and a dance floor with speakers to celebrate with our friends. That is, if she says yes.

"Oh, shit. They're on the street. I gotta go." He slips his phone into his pocket while my nerves go through the roof. "Man, I just want to say that I couldn't be prouder of you. I knew the moment you met Reina that she'd be in your life forever. It's just crazy that we're getting older and now you're about to join the married life with me. I just couldn't ask for a better best friend, and I know that-"

"Man, I'm really not trying to get emotional right now." I chuckle and blink away tears so that they won't fall. "Just get out of here, alright? I need to propose!"

"I love you, man." He brings me in for a hug before he exits out the back, leaving me alone to stand in the heart of roses.

Why am I so nervous that she won't say yes? It's because of our past and when she didn't remember me she wanted nothing to do with me. But she remembers now. She won't say no. Right? Fuck. The anticipation is killing me.

I start to play Marry Me by train through the speakers in the living room when I see Casey's car pull up through the window  and watch her step out. My hands are shaking as I clear my throat and adjust the cuffs of my dress shirt.

She looks beautiful. She's still in her outfit from work this morning. A black pencil dress that hugs her in all the right places. Her hair is straightened, makeup still perfectly applied. I don't know how she looks this good all damn day. I really don't. Is she seriously about to become my fiancé?

The door opens and I hold my breath when I hear her let out a gasp. I can't see her yet, and I'm starting to wonder where she is until I start to hear sniffling. Oh god.

She's going to say no.

She hates it.

Just like last time.

I feel the ring box bulge in my pocket and just feel like hiding away completely. I can't just stand here and listen to her cry, so I leave my spot in the middle of the heart of roses and round the corner to meet her.
