Jaycey's POV

Heart beating extremely hard, threatening to jump out my chest. Sweaty hands that failed to dry no matter how much I wiped them with a towel or any piece of cloth. A useless mind that decided to shutdown right around the time I needed it the most. That was what I felt and what went through my entire body when the hospital called to say Belle would be discharged today. I don't know why but the thought of it made me uneasy. What if she couldn't even look at me, she still couldn't remember anything. What if she remembered me, which I highly doubted by the way. If she remembered me what would I say, how would I act? I decided I was only going to find out when I got to the hospital.

The drive was slow because I was contemplating whether I should go or not. She had her girlfriend so why was I supposed go. She didn't need me. But I wanted to see her, I hadn't visited her for a long time. After a while I had just began dreading visiting her. The last time I did she was a walking zombie except well she couldn't walk. Now she could talk and walk and think, though I don't know what she possibly thought about, wait, could she even think?

I finally pulled up at the hospital's parking lot, just about the same time Samantha pulled up too. I looked at her and couldn't help but notice how she looked worn out and devastated, it's like she'd been crying non-stop for months. Of course she had been, her girlfriend was in the hospital for heavens sake. She noticed me too and we both shared smiles, no we were definitely not friends but we'd been talking and tolerating each other's presence, not much but enough for starters.

We both walked inside the hospital, hearts carried in our hands. Doctor Lawson was at the reception and as soon as he saw us, he came forward and gave us a greeting.

"Miss Davins, Miss Johnson," he said giving us each a steady handshake, "Miss Anderson will be out in a minute or so."

Just as he finished talking I saw her. She looked so happy, her face was decorated with that charming smile of hers and I wondered why. The nurse and her halted when they were almost about to reach where we stood. Belle seemed different, something was off about the way she took us all in. She looked at us briefly with a very expressionless face and I remembered, she didn't know who we were.

"Oh there she is," Doctor Lawson spoke. Suddenly as we approached them I started dreading to see her, I could tell that Samantha felt the same way too. But then, sometimes you just have to face whatevers happening cause there's no running away, right?

"You finally came out, I was about to come and drag you out of that room," Doctor Lawson said as we stood in front of the nurse and Belle. Belle eyed him as if saying something in her head, I wondered what.

She tore her gaze away from the doctor without giving him a reply and her eyes fell on Samantha and I before fully focusing on Samantha who warmly smiled at her but Belle didn't return the smile. She looked at her a bit more, her facial expression giving nothing away.

"What is it that she's thinking about?" I wondered.

After quite a while she finally smiled back and the pain that was present in Samantha's eyes seemed to wash away a little. I froze when she moved her gaze to me. My heart hammered more, my hands got sweatier, her gaze was so intense that I felt like hiding behind someone or better yet, running away. Her eyes sparked a bit and it looked like her brain's light bulb switched on. I smiled to try and not look overly nervous and to calm myself down.

"Jaycey?" she asked and I looked at her shockingly, I'm sure everyone else did.

"Jaycey, you're Jaycey?"

Yep, she was talking to me.

"Y,yeah," I replied in a stammer, biting the insides of my cheek. I was surprised when she suddenly pulled me into a hug. It felt good being in her arms, what I wouldn't give to have her hold me like this again.

"Oh my word you're here too," she pulled away from the hug, sounding extremely happy. Her eyes fell on me again and this time she let out a stifled laugh, "And you're also an all grown up woman, what did they do to us?"

What was she talking about?

I searched my head for answers but all I came up with was an, "Uhhh, I ---"

"Nurse Rose, please wait with Isabelle for a minute. I want to talk to these two," Doctor Lawson saved me.

"She's very weird," I spoke. Samantha was very quiet, her face expressionless. She was probably miles away and not in this moment. I felt hurt for her.

Doctor Lawson sighed, "Well she is. That right there is ten year old Isabelle. Seems she only remembers things from years ago but I promise you with time she will be okay."

"But how does she know me," I scrunched my eyebrows, confused.

"She met you when she was ten," Samantha finally spoke, her voice was low and strained, "You were apparently her first love."

"Thats not possible, I met Belle at the diner. I've never known her before that."

Samantha scoffed, "Too bad Isabelle kept it a secret."

"What are you talking about?"

"Ladies," Doctor Lawson coughed, "Can we please handle the issue at hand."

I nodded my head, still confused but just as I was about to speak Doctor Lawson beat me to it.

"Isabelle will need a place to stay and I recommend that she stays with someone she's familiar with and that can be you Miss Davins but Miss Johnson I would recommend that you visit regularly just so that the whole process of her regaining her memory speeds up. I'm done here, both of you have a great day," he smiled before walking away.

Have you ever heard of someone being plagued by love on the brain, that's what was happening to me. Somehow I was excited that I got to be with Belle, I wasn't thinking about what she'd done in the past or what she would do in the future. I was happy to be with her in the present although I suddenly realised that Belle wasn't the only one who needed to work on her memory, I did too. I sighed heavily and prepared myself for whatever was to come next. What would staying with ten year old Isabelle Anderson be like?
