sunburn
blackout -jaden smith

every day
when it feels right
i watch the sun burn past the tree line
until it falls
and dies

and so
do i

i ember
and marvel
and cry

at the magnificent nothingness
the sound of the world fills my mind
the nature
is alive

but pieces of me
scatter here and there
each day
passing night
passing by
glimpsing sight

of the falling sun
burning
into night

like saturn might
dance around my fingers
in the distant light

that's only a memory
of what i hide

i scrub it all away with the soapy water
but the feeling crawls and aches beneath my skin

I rushed today
hoping the sun wouldn't escape
before my eyes

i saw
and i realized
i knew

all along it's been true

i'm tired of this world, but what do i know?Where stories live. Discover now
