I got home and was greeted by Beau. Luckily my parents were still at work. I let Beau into the backyard then headed up to my room. I went straight to my closet to change. It took some searching to find my black one piece swim suit. It wasn't too revealing and comfortable to wear. I put it on and wore an Aerosmith tank top and denim shorts over it. Once I was satisfied with how i looked, I headed back downstairs to check on Beau. He was having fun running around the yard.
"Sorry bud, but you have to come in. I have to head out again". Beau followed me back inside but didn't look happy. "Wish I could take you bud, I'm sorry". I hugged his neck before heading out the door.
The walk to Barry's wasn't that long. I was surprised by the number of cars out front. I didn't think he'd invite that many people. I walked past the house and entered the backyard through the gate.
"Hey Jamie!" Eric waves me over right away.
"Hey Eric, what's up?" I asked as I made my way over to him.
"Glad you could make it man. Barry is freaking out because so many people showed up, but I told him that's what happens when you invite people during school" Eric laughed. "Zach and Brent are in the pool if you want to join them"
"Thank Eric. I'm going to go find Barry" I said. I made my way through the crowd of teens as I searched.
I found Barry pacing by the side of his house.
"Hey man, you okay?" I asked. He stopped walking and looked up at me.
"I didn't not mean for this" he said, gesturing towards the large group of kids. I just shrugged.
"Just relax and have fun. If they start acting up, we band together and kick them out" I said. Barry still looked nervous so I grabbed his hands. "Just relax and have fun" I said calmly. He nodded and took some deep breaths.
"You know, I'm most worried about her" Barry pointed behind me. I turned around to see Courtney talking to a boy.
"Ugh, does Brent know?" I asked. Barry nodded.
"I offered to ask her to leave but he said he didn't care, as long as she left him alone" he said. I nodded and sighed.
"I'm going to go see him an Zach. You take a moment to calm down" I said. Barry just nodded and I walked off towards the pool.
I found Zach and Brent throwing a football to each other while standing in the shallow end of the pool. I smiled and sat at the edge, letting my legs dangle in the water. Brent saw as he tossed the ball to Zach. He smiled and walked over. Zach gave us a look, confirming my suspension from our earlier conversation.
"Didn't feel like wearing a swimsuit?" Brent asked.
"It's under my clothes" I lifted my shirt to reveal the black suit. Brent chuckled and gave Zach a look. Zach nodded, confusing me. Suddenly, Brent grabbed my legs and pulled me into the water. I screamed as I was pulled under before popping my head back up. The two boys were laughing.
"Good one Brent" Zach said as he laughed.
"That was mean" I poured and playful hit his chest. Brent smiled and wrapped his arms around me.
"Sorry, I had to" he said with a smile. I blushed as I pushed him away. He just chuckled so I splashed him.
"Alright you two, no fighting in the pool" Zach laughed as he walked over to us. Brent splashed him back and we all laughed.
I got out of the pool and looked for Barry. I needed to ask him for a towel as my clothes were soaking wet. I ran into Courtney while finding him.
"Oh hey Jasmine" she said.
"Uh, it's Jamie" I corrected her.
"Whatever. I saw you in the pool with Brent"
"Yeah. Zach was there too"
"But Zach didn't pull you close to him"
"Brent was just apologizing for pulling me into the water. Now can I go? I need to find Barry"
"Just know I have my eyes on you" she growled before storming off. Didn't I see her talking to another boy earlier? Has she not moved on yet? I shook away the thoughts and walked away to find Barry.
Barry was at the table making sure there was plenty of snacks and drinks for everyone.
"My parents are going to kill me" I heard him mumble under his breath.
"Hey Barry, sorry to interrupt whatever your doing, but do you have a towel I can use?" I asked. He looked up and took a breath of relief when he saw it was just me.
"Yeah, let me run into the house and get it. Stay here" he said. I thanked him as he rushed inside. As I waited Eric walked over.
"Having fun?" I asked.
"That girl over there just gave me her number, so yes" he said as he pointed to a red hair girl standing by the pool.
"Awesome man" I said as I patted his shoulder. Zach and Brent soon joined us, both soaking wet.
"Barry bring out anything good to eat?" Zach asked as he approached the table. I laughed and looked at Brent.
"I feel the need to tell you someone is still jealous" I said. He knew exactly who I was talking about.
"Whatever, we can still have a good time. I'm just not going to talk to her" he said. I tensed up when he put an arm around me, but I quickly relaxed and leaned into him. Eric gave us a smirk so I stepped slightly away. As much as I liked Brent, it still felt weird being affectionate with him. I didn't want him feeling rushed into a new relationship.
Barry came back and handed me the towel. I thanked him and started drying myself off.
"What's the point of drying off if your just going back in?" Zach asked as he shoved chips in his mouth.
"Cause someone dragged me in while my clothes were still on, and wet clothes aren't comfortable" I gave Brent the side eye making him blush. He put his arm around me again and pulled me into his dripping body.
"Can't get dry if I'm holding you" he teased. I giggled and hit his chest.
"Your being such a dick today" we all broke into laughter.
I followed Brent back to the pool and watched him dive in. I sat on the edge again, not wanting to get my clothes more wet then they already were.
"No dragging me in again" I warned. Brent nodded with a smile. Eric and Zach walked over and joined him in the pool.
"No Barry?" I asked.
"He's starting to kick people out before it gets too late" Eric said. I nodded and watched the three boys mess around with each other in the pool. Brent swam over to me and put his hands on either side of me, pulling himself up a little.
"Having a good time?" He asked with a smirk. I smiled as I put my hands on his shoulders.
"Of course. I love spending time with you" I blushed. "I mean, all of you" Brent smirked and looked past me for a moment before looking back at me and tilting his head.
"I enjoy spending time with you too" he said as he leaned closer to me. I started blushing like crazy but didn't stop him. My eyes closed his lips grazed mine before he finally kissed me.
"I can't believe you!" I pulled away and saw Courtney standing behind us. "You moved too quick Brent!" She stormed off in anger.
"Don't worry about her" Brent said. I could from his voice he was upset but I didn't know what to do to help. I just held him close in my arms.
"Bout time" Zach said. Brent turned around and stuck his tongue out at him.
Barry finally got everyone to leave, with us five left. We all helped him clean up before circling the fire pit. Brent helped him light it up. I wrapped my towel around my shoulder and sat in the cool grass. Brent walked over and sat right behind me, pulling me into his arms. For once I didn't protest and just snuggled into his chest. Barry, Zach, and Eric sat down with us.
"See Barry? That wasn't so bad. Everyone gone and the place cleaned before they got back" Eric said.
"Thanks guys" Barry said.
"Well I think that was a lot of fun" Zach said.
"Me too. It was a good day" I said as I looked up at Brent. He smiled at me and kissed my forehead.
"So does this mean no more awkward tension between you two?" Zach asked. We al laughed and enjoyed our time by the fire. I loved these boys
