Nowhere Kids

Evening plans

Brent ended up driving me home after it got dark.
"Thank you" I said as we pulled up to my house.
"Thank you Jamie. For the fun night" he said with a smile. I smiled back and leaned in to kiss his cheek. He blushed as I stepped out of the car.
"Goodnight Brent"
"Goodnight"
I closed the door and watched him drive away before walking into the house.

"Where have you been?" Dad asked as I walked inside.
"Kids at school talked about an interesting trail nearby, so I had to check it out" I said as I bent down to pet Beau.
"Why didn't you take Beau with you?" He asked. "And with are your clothes wet?"
"Oh, I heard it was an intense trail, so I left Beau in case it was dangerous. Worked out as I slipped and fell into the water" I said nervously. Dad gave me a look before shrugging me off. I rushed upstairs before he could ask say anything else.

I decided to take a quick shower before putting on dry clothes to make sure I wash the chlorine away. Once I stepped out I dried myself off and put on pajama pants and a white tank top. I walked over to my bed and sat down.
"Beau!" Beau came running to my room as soon as I called him name. He jumped up on the bed and curled up next to me. "Hey bud, I missed you" I said. I saw my phone sitting on my bedside table so I checked it. One text from Brent, only a few minutes ago.
"Hope you have a good night x" he wrote.
"You too x" I wrote back. I put my phone down and laid back down on the bed. Beau crawled over to my side and sighed as he put his head on my chest. I smiled and gently stroked his back until I fell asleep.

I woke up to Beau's cry. I didn't realize my bedroom door closed.
"Sorry bud" I mumbled as I forced myself out of bed. I opened the door and watched him bolt down the stairs. Did his feet even touch the ground? I giggled at him and went back to my closet to change into clean clothes.

I put on some ripped blue jeans and a black v neck top. I put my shoes on before heading out the door.
"Bye Beau" I said as I patted his head before rushing by him to the front door. I headed outside and started making my way down the street towards school.

During the walk a truck pulled over ahead of me. I was nervous at first until I realized i recognized that truck. I walked over with a a smile.
"Hey Brent" I said as I leaned into the window.
"Wanna ride?" He asked. I nodded and got into the truck. "Having a good morning?"
"So far it's well" I said. "You?"
"Good so far" he said with a smile.

We got to school and saw the others hanging out under the tree. Brent held my hand as we walked over, making me blush.
"So you two a thing yet?" Zach asked, warming a hit in the arm by Eric.
"Don't pressure them" he growled. Barry just smiled at us.
"We're just enjoying each other's company" Brent said shyly. I nodded in agreement.
"Come on, I want to see you two go on a real date" Zach whined.
"What is wrong with you man?" Eric asked him. Zach just shrugged.
"Things are boring lately, I want something exciting" he admitted.
"Courtney's drama wasn't enough?" Barry asked.
"Ugh, I don't want to talk about her anymore" Brent pinched his nose.
"Sorry man" Barry mumbled.
"Can't avoid her in class, so why does it matter?" I asked.
"Cause we can avoid her now" Brent said as he looked at me.
"Fair point" I said.

The bell rang before we could change subjects.
"See you in a bit" Brent said as he let go of my hand.
"See you later" I said with a blush. He left with Barry and Zach, leaving Eric and I to head to our first class.
"So master mind, got anything planned today?" I asked as we walked through the halls.
"You know, it's not like I'm the leader or anything. I just like suggesting new places" he said.
"You have good ideas for us. So what's for today?" I asked again. Eric took a moment to think.
"What if we all see a movie?" He asked.
"Sounds like fun" I said. We entered the classroom and took our seats.

Math was pretty boring today. Eric and I didn't even get a chance to talk much with the teacher teaching us a new lesson. I was glad when the bell finally rang.
"See ya at lunch" Eric said. I waved and headed down the history. Courtney greeted me at the door.
"Little birdie told me you and Brently were dating now" she said with her arms crossed.
"Who told you that?" I asked.
"Doesn't matter" she retaliated.
"Well I don't know what you're talking about. We are still just friends" I said. I pushed past her and took my seat at my desk.

Brent walked into class and walked straight to my desk.
"Hey" he said as he sat on my desk.
"Hello. May I ask why your ass is on my book?" I asked with a giggle.
"Needed to sit somewhere" he said with a smirk. Courtney rolled her eyes at us.
"Hey Brent, are you busy after school? I think I need a tutor" she said in the sweetest voice she could use.
"Sorry, I think I have plans" he said without giving her even a glance.
"Eric said something about a movie" I said.
"That sounds fun" he smiled. Our teacher walked into the classroom so Brent got off my desk and walked to his own.

Class was okay as we just watched a documentary about the first World War. Brent had fallen asleep during it so I woke him once the bell rang.
"Time to go B" I said as I tapped his shoulder. He got up and yawned before following me out of the classroom.

We met up with the others at lunch. I took a seat between Zach and Barry at our table, with Brent and Eric across from us.
"So what's the plan today?" Zach asked.
"Jamie and I were talking about seeing a movie tonight" Eric said.
"She told me about that. Sounds like fun" Brent said. Zach and Barry agreed so we decided on a time to meet.

The rest of the day went by quickly. Barry and I just read in English, and Zach and I played floor hockey in gym. Nothing exciting, but it wasn't bad either. I was just excited to meet up with everyone after school. Zach and I left gym together and met up with everyone outside.
"So we all know to meet up at the theatre at 7?" Eric asked. We all nodded in agreement. "Good. See you all then" he said with a wink. Barry and Zach both smiled at each other before they left. That was weird.
"See you then J" Brent said as he got into his car.
"See ya" I waved goodbye and he pulled out of the parking lot.

I walked home and was relieved to see my parents were still at work.
"What's up Beau" I said as I walked inside. The big boxer jumped up on me, making me laugh. I gave him a hug before walking to the backyard with him. He ran around the yard and rolled around in the grass. I sat in the grass with him and watched him get up and start running again. He's such a goofy pup.

I looked at my phone and realized I had to get ready to meet the others.
"Let's go inside bud" I said as I stood up. Beau followed me into the house and went to his water dish, making a mess as he drank. I shook my head with a smile and grabbed a towel to clean it up. Once that was done, I carried my backpack up to my room and placed it at my desk. I then went to my closet and grabbed my black hoodie. '
Just in case it gets cold tonight'  I thought to myself.

I went back downstairs and grabbed the car keys.
"Be good Beau" I said as I left the house. Once I knew it was locked up, I went to the car and got in. I sat in the car for a few minutes, looking for a good radio station, before pulling out of the driveway and making my way to the theatre.

The sun was just beginning to set as I arrived. I found a parking spot and got out of the car. When I walked towards the theatre, I saw Brent waiting outside.
"Hey, just you?" I asked as I walked over to him.
"Yeah, I guess I got here early" he said. I leaned against the wall and looked around. It was pretty quiet here, probably because it was a school night.
"Hopefully they get here soon" I said. Brent nodded. He leaned against the wall next to me and sighed.

I just hope they get here soon.
