The ride to Barry's place was fun. Brent and I sang along to the radio and had a good time together. He was great company and made everything fun, I loved spending time with him. He even made me feel less nervous about tonight.
I wasn't surprised to see we were the last ones to arrive at Barry's. Brent and I got out of his truck and approached the door. After Brent gave it a knock, Barry opened the door.
"Bout time you two got here" he said with a smile. We followed him into the house and joined the others up in Barry's room.
"So what's everyone's plan for the party?" Zach asked.
"After a long week, I just want to relax and have a good time" Barry said as he laid back on his bed.
"I'll probably just hang out, maybe find some girls to talk to" Eric said.
"I know I'm going to find girls to talk to. What about you two?" Zach asked, looking over at Brent and I. Brent shrugged as he put an arm around me.
"Just avoid drama and have fun" I said.
"Why do we need a plan anyway? It's just a party" Barry asked.
"I dunno, just curious" Zach said.We all sat around talking until it was time to head out.
"Brent, you remember his address?" Barry asked. Brent nodded.
"Yeah, just follow me" he said. I got into his truck with him and we headed out.
"Ever go to a high school party before?" I asked as we took off.
"We used to go all the time, but they got boring" Brent said. "Same thing every time, you know?"
"I've never been to one. I was always too scared" I said. Brent smiled and put a hand on my lap.
"Don't worry, we'll keep you safe" he said with a wink. I blushed and started to feel better about going. Even if the boys split up, I knew Brent would stay by my side. The party was already busy by the time we got there. Zach was first to disappear into the crowd.
"What do you think his odds of getting laid are?" Eric asked.
"It's Zach, so none" I said, making Brent and Barry laugh.
"I'm going to go see if I know anyone here" Eric said before walking off.
"I'm going to go see what they have for drinks" Barry said. He gave us a nod before heading towards the kitchen. It was just me and Brent now, but I wasn't surprised.Brent and I stood there a moment, looking around us at all the kids having a good time. Suddenly, Brent took my hand and dragged me towards the backyard. Kids were still hanging around the yard, but it was less busy then it was inside. I followed him to the opposite side of the yard and we sat together on the bench.
"What do you think the others are up to?" I asked. Brent just shrugged and leaned against me.
"Doesn't matter. Unless they're in trouble, I'd rather be with you" he said. I blushed and leaned my head on top of his.
"This is nice" I said. I heard him sigh before cuddling closer to me.
"Yeah, it is" he said.Brent and I were enjoying our peaceful evening until Courtney entered the backyard. She had a boy around our age following her with long red hair and brown eyes.
"Poor guy looks scared" I whispered to Brent as he sat up. Courtney locker eyes with me a moment before walking over.
"Hi Brently!" She yelled as she dragged her boy toy over with her. She sounded like she's been drinking.
"Hey Court. Who's you friend?" Brent asked.
"This is Kyle" she giggled as she threw her arm around him, almost falling over. He caught her and gave an embarrassed look to us.
"Nice to meet you" I said, earning a dirty look from Courtney.
"Anyways, I hope you have a good night Brently" she said before Kyle walked her back inside.
"Wish she's stay away" Brent mumbled.
"We'll just gave to pretend she's not here" I said as I cuddled back into his chest. After a while Brent and I started getting bored and went into the house. We found Eric with his arm around a girl.
"Hey guys, this is Kellie. Isn't she wonderful?" He asked.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Brent, and this is Jamie" Brent introduced us with a handshake.
"Nice meeting you. Hope you don't mind me borrowing your friend for a while" she giggled.
"Not at all" I smiled. The two giggled as they held each other and walked off. Brent grabbed my hand again and lead me into the kitchen.Brent opened the fridge and reached in, pulling out two beers.
"Is this a good idea" I asked, not sure if I was more excited or nervous.
"Don't worry, I know my limit and I won't let you get shitfaced" Brent laughed. He pulled the cap off before handing me the bottle. I hesitated before taking my first sip. It wasn't bad, and I felt less nervous after. Brent smiler before taking a drink himself. We stood in the kitchen drinking a while before Barry showed up. He looked at Brent and laughed before getting himself a beer.
"What's so funny?" I asked.
"Brent used to get wasted every party we went to. I would have to drive him home and tell his parents he had food poisoning" he chuckled.
"Hey, I learned when to stop" Brent whined.
"Good. I'm done dragging you into your house" Barry said after taking a drink. Someone must have caught his attention cause he quickly left the room smiling. After a few more drinks, I started to feel good.
"Okay J, I think your done for tonight" Brent laughed as he grabbed my bottle. I whined and threw my arms around him.
"But we're having fun now" I whined. He smiled and kissed my forehead.
"We can have fun without the drinks" he said. I whined again and laid my head on his chest as he wrapped his arms around me.
"Now what?" I mumbled into his chest.
"Well, we can leave whenever you want" he whispered to me. I pulled away and smiled at him. He gave me a grin back before pulling me back in for a kiss."Uh, guys?"
I pulled away from Brent, annoyed, to see Zach standing by us.
"What Zach?" Brent growled. Leave it to Zach to ruin a sweet moment.
"Can I borrow you a second Brent?" He asked. Brent sighed before letting go of me and following Zach. I got bored waiting for him so I walked around the house. I found Barry talking to two girls in the dining room and Eric was still flirting with Kellie in the living room. It was good seeing the boys have a good time. The crowd started to overwhelm me without Brent so I stepped outside. I sat on the front steps and took some deep breaths.
"J?" I heard Brent's voice. I turned around to see him standing behind me, closing the door behind me.
"Sorry, needed some air. Is Zach okay?" I asked. Brent nodded and took a seat next to me, brushing his hair behind his ear.
"Yeah, he wanted me as a wing man. Didn't work though, she poured her drink on him" he said.
"Poor guy" I said.
"You wouldn't say that if you heard what he said" he chuckled. "Ready to get out of here?"
"No. I mean, I'm ready to leave, but I'm not ready to go home" I mumbled, putting my head in my hands. Brent grabbed my hands and made me look at him.
"Come back to my place. If my parents are home, I'll just tell him you're locked out of your house or something" he said. I nodded and leaned in to kiss him. He kissed me back before standing up. I took his hand as I stood and we walked together to his truck."You good to drive?" I asked as he started the truck.
"Yeah, I barely had anything. You're the one who did all the drinking" he chuckled. I rolled my eyes and leaned against the window.
"It was fun" I whined.
"Yeah, but that hangover is going to hurt" he said. I stood straight and looked at him with a pout. "Don't worry, I'll help you get over it"We got to Brent's house and walked in together.
"Good, everyone's sleeping" Brent whispered. He took my hand and lead me to his bedroom. I giggled as we walked, so he turned to shush me. We got to his room and he locked the door before turning to me.
"So now what?" I asked. Brent smiled and walked over to me, pulling me close and giving me a passionate kiss. This was going to be a fun night.
