Nowhere Kids

Bonfire

We soon arrived to the open field where a giant bonfire sat in the center, with a ton of kids from school surrounding it. Everyone was partying, drinking, just having a good time.
"You see the others?" I asked as we stepped out of the truck. Brent took a quickly look around while grabbing my hand.
"I see Barry" he said. I followed him towards our friend, both excited and nervous over what's to come.

"What's up Barry?" Brent asked as we walked over. He was talking to a girl around our age before turning towards us.
"Hey guys! Nice to see you!" He said. The girl told Barry that she was going to hang out with her friends and she's see him later, so he said goodbye and hugged her before turning his attention back to us.
"Who's your friend?" Brent asked.
"Oh, just someone from another school. She came with her friends" he said shyly.

"Hey guys" Zach said with as he walked over with his arm around a girl. "This is Bethany"
"Nice to meet you" I said. Barry and Brent nodded and she smiled at us.
"Nice meeting you guys" she said. We all stood around talking for a while, enjoying each other's company.

"Hey guys!" Eric called out. We turned to see him and Kellie walking over. Now everyone was here, and it felt right all being together. We walked closer to the fire and sat down in the grass, staying close together so we could all talk. I sat in Brent's lap and cuddling into his chest, enjoying the night.

I eventually looked up at Brent as he was turned towards Eric, talking to him and Kellie. I stared at him with awe, just feeling lucky to have met him. Brent soon noticed my staring and looked down at me.
"Whatcha looking at?" He asked.
"You're beautiful eyes" I said quietly. Brent smirked and leaned in to kiss me. The kiss was nice until we pulled away from each other and saw everyone staring.
"What's wrong?" Brent asked. Zach started laughing and Barry smiled as he shook his head.
"We're just not used to you two being this romantic, at least not in front of us" Eric said with a chuckle.
"Yeah, we know you two have done worse" Zach said, looking down at my stomach.
"Shut up man" Brent said, rolling his eyes but smiling.
"What are you talking about?" Bethany asked Zach. I gave him a mean look, hoping he wouldn't say.
"Nothing, just picking on them" Zach said.

The others got bored and got up to walk around. I stayed in Brent's lap as we watched the fire. He held me tight and kept his head on my shoulder. After all we've been through, we deserved this.
"Are you having a good night?" Brent whispered to me. I nodded and turned my head to kiss his cheek.
"Always when I'm with you" I whispered back, making him blush.

We eventually got up to walk around a little. Barry was back with the girl from earlier, Eric and Kellie were holding hands as they walked and talked, and Zach and Bethany were cuddled up talking.
"I'm glad they all found someone, I just hope we don't all grow apart" I mumbled.
"Trust me, we never let girls get in between our friendship" Brent said. I giggled and leaned against.
"Oh hey guys!" Courtney suddenly walked in front of us with her new boyfriend by her side. She seemed different, but maybe it was just me.
"Hey Courtney, hey Dave" Brent said.
"Hello" I said, trying to sound friendly. I still couldn't trust Courtney but I didn't want to be the one to start any issues with her.

Brent and Dave talked for a while as Courtney and I stood close by.
"So how's the pregnancy?" She suddenly asked me. I was surprised she sounded genuine.
"Oh, so far so good I guess. It's still early, and I'm still scared" I admitted.
"You'll be fine, you have Brent by your side" she said with a sigh. "Look, I know I've been a bitch to you, but if you need anything please let me know"
I wasn't sure if she meant it or if it was just an excuse to be closer to Brent and the baby, but I thanked her anyway. We talked a little more before Brent tugged my arm, letting me know it was time to get going.

Brent pulled me towards the woods and pinned me against a tree.
"What are you doing?" I asked with a laugh.
"What were you doing talking to the enemy?" He said, his smile telling me he was joking.
"She's trying to be nice, so I'm trying to be nice" I said with a smirk. Brent smiled and leaned in to kiss my neck. It surprised me, but I wasn't mad. I placed my hands on his side and whined as he pulled away to look at me.
"I hope she's done bothering us" he said lowly. I nodded in agreement.
"Me too" I said. Brent smirked and leaned in to kiss me. We held each other close as the kiss lasted. When he finally pulled away he pressed his forehead against mine.
"I love you Jamie"
"I love you too Brent"

Brent and I decided it was getting late so we headed home. We made sure to say goodbye to everyone before heading out. Back in the truck Brent turned the radio on and sang along to each song. I just watched in awe, enjoying his beautiful voice. He sounds amazing.

We got home and saw his parents were already in bed. After a quick hello with Beau, we headed up to Brent's room and snuggled up on his bed. I was exhausted after such a long day. Brent smiled when I yawned and kissed the top of my head.
"Good night love" he said. I snuggled closer to him and fell asleep with my head on his chest, feeling safe with him.
