Trick, or Treat?

Halloween night finally came and I was nervous. I started to regret telling Brent we could tell the others tonight, but Brent was right. They'd have to find out eventually. I made sure Beau was going to be okay for the night before Barry and I got ready to go to Zach's house. The drive over was quiet as I was nervous, and I think Barry could tell.
"What's the matter, don't like scary movies?" He asked.
"Not really" I mumbled. Barry just chuckled and turned on the radio. Halloween songs played and he quietly sang around.

We got to Zach's house and greeted him and Eric. Brent hadn't arrived yet. Zach was picking out movies to put on while Eric and Barry sat down together and chatted. I nervously waited for Brent on the couch.
"You good?" Eric asked.
"I think she's scared of Halloween movies" Barry said. I nodded, not wanting them to know why I was really nervous.
"You'll be fine" Zach said with a laugh.

Brent soon showed up and took a seat next to me, pulling me into his arms.
"See, your safe with your boyfriend" Zach said sarcastically. Brent rolled his eyes at him and kissed the top of my head, pulling me close into his chest. Zach started the first movie, Nightmare on Elm Street, before taking a seat next to Eric. It wasn't too scary, but some scenes made me uncomfortable. I whined and buried my head in Brent's chest, hiding my face.

After the movie finished, Zach got up to start another one.
"Should we tell them now?" Brent whispered to me. I thought about it for a moment and decided it'd be best to get it off my chest. I nodded so he gently pushed me off of him and stood up. He cleared his throat, getting the others attention.
"What's up?" Barry asked.
"Jamie and I have an announcement"
"Oh yeah? And what's that?" Eric asked with a head tilt.
"Jamie is pregnant" Brent said bluntly. There was a moment of silence before Zach started laughing.
"Funny joke man" he said.
"It's not a joke Zach" I mumbled, pulling my knees up to my chest.
"Wait, is this why you've been so weird lately?" Barry asked. I nodded as Brent sat back down, putting his arms around me.
"And you're okay with this Brent?" Eric asked. Brent nodded and kissed the top of my head. They all stared silently before going back to the movies, as if nothing happened. Well, that went better then I thought I suppose.

After a few more movies we realized how late it was. It was almost midnight and we had school the next day. Brent kissed me goodbye before I left with Barry.
"So he really wasn't lying?" Barry asked as he drove us home.
"No, I wish it was a trick but it's true" I said.
"Wow, congratulations" he said.
"Thanks" I mumbled.

We got to Barry's house and went inside. Beau was sleeping on the couch but woke up when I walked over to him. He sprang up and jumped on me, licking my face.
"Ready for bed boy?" I asked. He barked and ran into my room. I said goodnight to Barry before following him.

I got into bed and held Beau in my arms. He quickly fell asleep cuddled into my arms. I kissed the top of head and sighed. Getting that off my chest did help, but I still felt uneasy about the whole thing. I closed my eyes and tried getting some sleep, knowing I needed it.

I was woken the next morning to yelling. Beau barked and growled, making me feel scared. He stayed by my side as I made my way down to the kitchen. Barry's dad turned towards me and looked angry.
"How dare you bring a boy here after we were nice enough to let you in!" He yelled. I started crying.
"Dad, how do you know they did it here?" Barry asked.
"Doesn't matter. We let you in expecting you to behave better! Get out!" His dad yelled. I grabbed Beau's leash and ran outside, not wanting to hear any more shouting.

Barry soon joined me outside and handed me my backpack.
"Sorry about all that" he mumbled. I wanted to be mad he told them, but then I remembered I couldn't hide it forever.
"Not your fault" I said. Beau looked up at me and whined.
"So now what? We can't bring him to school with us" Barry said. I looked down at Beau and sighed.
"Maybe he can stay with someone for the day" I suggested. Barry nodded and we got into his car, trying to figure out what to do next. Life just wouldn't give me a break.

We made our way to school and passed Brent's house. His truck was still in the driveway so he hadn't left here.
"Maybe we can leave Beau here" I suggested. Barry pulled over and let me and Beau out. I told him I wanted to talk to Brent alone, so he left to continue to school. I walked to front door and knocked.

Brent opened the door and smiled when he saw me.
"What's up baby ?" He asked. I started tearing up, and his smile turned into a frown.
"Barry's parents kicked us out" I said before full on crying. Brent grabbed my arm and pulled us inside before holding me tightly in his arms.
"I'm sorry J. Do you two need a place to stay?" He asked, looking down at Beau for a moment. I nodded so he lead me to his room.

I let Beau off his leash after Brent closed the door.
"He can stay in here for now, until I talk to my parents about it" he said.
"Thank you" I said softly. Brent smiled and cupped my face in his hands.
"I'd never let you two go without a home" he said before giving me a kiss. The kiss lingered for a moment before I pulled away and smiled at him. Beau got himself comfy under Brent's blankets, making us both laugh. What would I do without him?
