Brent didn't tell me where we were going the whole ride. I was starting to feel nervous yet excited. All I knew was I had to trust him on this one. He drove us to the cafe where we had our first time alone together.
"A local band is playing here tonight so I thought you'd like to see them" Brent said as he stopped the truck.
"Sounds like fun" I said with a smile. We got out of his truck and walked inside together.
Brent found us a quiet table in the corner after we ordered our drinks. I felt bad Brent paid for mine. I can't wait to start working so I can treat him to something nice for once. He had his arm around my waist as we cuddled together in the booth, waiting for the band to start. This may be just a small performance, but it was still going to be a fun night.
I had my head resting on Brent's shoulder as the band began playing. For local musicians who weren't well known, they sounded fantastic.
"Having fun?" Brent whispered to me. I smiled and nodded as I cuddled closer to him. He was so calm and relaxed, it felt like the real Brent was back.
"You know I'm always having fun when I'm with you" I said. He smirked and kissed my temple.
It was still light out after the show so Brent and I took a walk. He held my hand as we walked down the sidewalk together, enjoying each other's company.
"Is that Eric and Kellie?" Brent suddenly asked. I looked forward and saw the couple walk into a nice restaurant together.
"They must be on a date" I said. Brent hummed in agreement as we kept walking.
"I'm sorry I can't take you somewhere that nice" he mumbled as we passed the building. I looked at him in shock.
"You know I only care about your company" I said as I playfully hit his arm. He just looked down, making me sad.
Brent seemed quiet after that as we walked. I stopped walking and pulled him aside.
"Seriously Brent, what's wrong?" I asked.
"What if we can't do this anymore? We start working, and we don't get any time to ourselves" He asked as looked at me.
"We won't be working seven days a week B" I said.
"Yeah, but we also don't know if we'll be working the same days. It won't be the same if we're all not together, and if we use our only free days to hang out as a group, we can't have any more dates" he said sadly. He put his head down so I grabbed his chin and gently lifted it back up as I stared into his deep blue eyes.
"We are getting jobs so we can be together once school is out. Even if that means hanging out less, it will be worth it. I'll still see you every day" I said before leaning in to kiss him. He kissed me back as he wrapped his arms around my waist.
Brent and I enjoyed our moment together before pulling away. He smiled and hesitated before letting go of my waist.
"Feel better now?" I asked. He blushed and nodded. I took his hand as we walked back to his truck. I didn't want this night to end, but I also needed to check up on Beau.
"I wish we could spend all night together" Brent said softly.
"Me too, but I can't leave Barry with Beau all night. It wouldn't be fair" I explained. Brent sighed as he squeezed my hand.
"I know" he said. I was worried he was sad again but when I looked over he was smiling at me. I smiled back and kissed his cheek, making him blush again.
We got into Brent's truck and he drove me back to Barry's house.
"How long do you plan on staying with Barry?" Brent asked as he drove.
"You getting jealous again?" I asked with a smile. He chuckled and gave me a quick look.
"Just curious" he said. I leaned back in my seat and looked out the window.
"I'm not sure. Either until his parents kick me out or I find my own place. Whatever comes first" I said.
"I hope we can afford a place quickly" he said.
"Me too, but it's probably going to take a while" I told him. I started to wonder if it'd be worth it. It was still the beginning of the school year, who knows if Brent and I would still be dating by the end of the year.
I got quiet as I thought about it.
"Are you okay J?" Brent asked.
"Yeah, just thinking. Sorry" I mumbled.
"No need to be sorry. What are you thinking about?" He asked as he put a hand in my lap.
"It's nothing, I'm fine" I said quietly. Brent's smile disappeared as he looked over at me.
"Okay then" he mumbled. We both went quiet after that.
We pulled up to Barry's house and saw all the lights were off.
"Is anyone home?" Brent wondered out loud.
"I see Barry's car, so he must be. Maybe he's in bed" I suggested. Brent just shrugged and looked at me.
"So I guess this is good night" he said.
"Can you walk me to the door at least?" I asked, giving him sad eyes. He smiled and turned off his truck.
Brent had his arm around me as we approached the door. It was locked, but lucky Barry told me where the spare was. I moved a rock next to the door and found the key sitting on the ground. Brent laughed as I picked it up.
"Good hiding spot" he said, making me giggle.
I unlocked the door and pushed it open.
"Well, good night J" Brent said. He pulled me into his arms and gave me a kiss. I decided I wasn't ready to say goodnight, so I pulled him inside. He looked confused as I closed to door behind us. "What are you doing?" He asked in a whisper. I shushed him and lead him quietly to my bedroom.
Beau was fast asleep on the bed as we walked in. I slowly closed the door behind us and turned to Brent.
"You being sneaky now?" Brent asked quietly with a smile. I smirked as I stepped closer to him.
"Maybe you had a point. Let's enjoy tonight, cause who knows when we can do this again" I said softly. I placed my hands on his shoulder as he placed his hands on my hips. Our lips locked again and it felt great. He then picked me up and brought me to my bed, waking Beau up. Beau got off the bed and left as Brent crawled on top of me. This is going to be a fun night indeed.
