The Results

Brent and I spent the rest of the afternoon together before he drove me back to Barry's house so I can check in on Beau. I hated being away from him as he could get the call without me, but he promised to keep me updated. Beau greeted me as soon as I entered the house, with Barry standing close by.
"Have a fun day?" He asked.
"Oh, yeah" I said, remembering he has no idea what really happened.
"Good. I'm glad you two are doing well together. It's been a while since I've seen him this happy with a girl" he said.
"Yeah, I'm happy with him too" I said, smiling. Barry smiled back and beau barked, getting my attention.
"Think he missed you" Barry said. I grabbed the leash Brent bought for him and decided to take him on a walk. It's been a while since I've been able to, and I know he'll love it.

I took Beau up and down the street for a while, letting him stop and sniff everything. It's been a while since I've seen him this happy to be out and about.
"It's getting late bud. Let's go back so you can have dinner" I said. Beau loves that word and started pulling me back to the house, making me laugh.

We got to the house and I let him off his leash. Beau ran in circles around the house, making Barry and his parents laugh.
"He's a happy boy" Barry's dad said. I just smiled and went to the kitchen to fill his bowl with his food. As soon as I placed it down, Beau rushed over and started eating.

I sat with Barry and his parents as we all had dinner together. The three talked about their day while I ate quietly at the other end of the table.
"How was your day Jamie?" Barry's mom asked me.
"Oh, it was good. Brent and I went out together for the day" I said. They just smiled at me and went back to talking amongst themselves. I didn't mind, I was just glad to be involved. I was very thankful they let me stay with them.

After dinner I helped Barry clean up before bed. Beau followed me to my room and curled up in bed with me. After a long day, I just wanted to sleep.
"Good night Beau" I mumbled as he snuggled into me. I closed my eyes and tried to get some much needed rest.

I woke up the next morning to Beau licking my hand.
"Alright buddy, I'm up" I mumbled. I sat up and stretched before getting out of bed and following him to the kitchen.
"Morning" Barry said as he ate his breakfast. I just waved a hand at him before going to feed Beau. I stood around the kitchen, waiting for Beau to finish eating. Once he finished I let him into the backyard before going back to my room to get dressed for school.

Once I was all ready I went back to the backyard to let Beau inside. He pushed past me and ran to the couch to take a nap.
"He's a couch potato, isn't he?" Barry asked. I laughed and nodded.
"Sometimes" I said. We both grabbed our bags and headed out together for school.

We got to school and met up with the others. Eric and Zach were talking while Brent leaned against the tree. We walked over to them and said hello. Brent seemed quiet, but he smiled when he saw me. I smiled back and walked over to him, letting him wrap his arms around me.
"Get a call yet?" I asked him in a whisper. He shook his head no.
"I'm keeping my phone off silent for the day just in case" he whispered back. I just nodded and cuddled into him as the others talked. They mostly talked work, something I didn't want to think about.

The bell rang so it was time to go to class. I kissed Brent before following Eric to our classroom.
"You working tonight?" Eric asked.
"No, tomorrow"
"Maybe we can hang out after school. I think Zach is working, but we can visit him"
"That's a good idea"
I didn't think of us visiting each other at work. Maybe we could still all keep in touch outside of school. We worked together on our class work, talking about life as we worked. I was so afraid of accidentally telling him what's been on my mind. Despite trusting all of them, I wasn't ready to tell them anything.

After class I said goodbye to Eric and headed to history.  I ran into Brent in the halls on the way there. He did not look well. He just looked at me and took my hand, guiding me to the staircase. Once we were hidden away from everyone under the stairs, he took my hands and looked me in the eyes.
"I got the call right as class ended" he said quietly.
"And?"
"I'm sorry J, you were right. That first test was wrong. They said it was probably too soon to tell, but you are pregnant" he said softly. I started crying. I wasn't ready to hear it. I expected him to get upset or leave, but he didn't. He just pulled him into his arms and gently rocked me as I cried. My world was over.
