1 what inspired the idea of your story?
I wanted to challenge myself to write something outside of my comfort zone, so this story was my attempt at something with more action than my usual stories. I was listening to a lot of organized crime stories at the time, so this was the outcome of that.
2 what was something you struggled with for your story ?
I worked really hard on the character development in this story, and it was difficult to create a balance of creating that development while also keeping the characters continuous. Getting the characters from point A to point B while it being believable was pretty tricky since there was a lot of development happening.
3 what has been the overall response to your story from your readers?
I think that readers liked it (at least I'd like to think so!) but it's definitely unlike most of my other stories in a lot of ways, so it was a bit surprising to my readers as it probably wasn't something that they would expect from me.
4 what did you enjoy writing most of your story?
I fell in love with the characters in this story, so I really enjoyed writing about their growth, and reading the comments from people who were also excited about that growth.
5 is your story a stand alone novel or a piece of a series?
a stand alone
6 what would you like your readers to take away from your story?
The take away from this story is that your mistakes do not define you, an that you are always able to grow from your past to create a better future.
7 what's a piece of advice you would provide to another writer, when it comes to focusing on their story?
If you feel like you're getting writer's block, step away from the story for a while. Whether that be a day, a week, or a month. Stepping away will give you a new perspective, and new ideas. If you still feel stuck, try deleting the last chapter and rewriting it to take a different path.
8 does your main character share any similarities to yourself?
Although I adore my main character, I don't think that we are very similar. I am very fragile and she has definitely had a lot more struggles in her life that have made her a very tough lady.
9 what's something you believe would draw in new readers?
Something that draws in new readers is first impressions and something that is easy to search. A good book cover, a good description, and a lot of tags that make sense for your story are a good place to start
10 do you have any future projects?
I do have some projects in mind, but I'm very busy with my family and career, so it will take me a long time to be able to publish any more of my stories. Hopefully I'll get there someday!
