Hazel was hardly listerning to Professor Flitwick as he droned on about how important charms was. Yes yes, she knew that it was one of the most important lessons in the school curriculum. Yes yes, she knew that it was hard work. When he actually got down to teaching them how to do the charm Wingardium Leviosa, she was nearly asleep. Hopefully every lesson wouldn't be like this.
"Swish and flick!" Professor Flitwick instructed. The people in the class around her repeated the movement with him and she sighed, doing the same, Charms was her one easy lesson, she had practiced many things at her house and especially liked learning charms. As their teacher left them to do their own practice, she turned to Sherlock who was looking at her.
"You seem to find this boring" He stated. She raised her eyebrow at him, not bothering to ask how he knew that. He seemed to have a gift, or just maybe he was incredibly clever. To be honest, ti was probably a mix of both.
"Yep." She replied to him. "I tried many of these spells in the holidays. I like charms, I think it's my favourite lesson." Sherlock told her that it was the same for him, but he had tried most lessons, not just charms. Decing to practice again, she took out her wand and cast the spell on her feather. Hers, joined by Sherlock's, rose to the top of the classroom and Professor Flitwick gave them both 10 house points. So, with nothing wlse to do, they tried to help John and Gus, who had had no luck yet.
By the end of the (boring to Hazel) lesson, both of them had managed to complete it too. Another 2 points each to them, and were told that the only homework they had was to learn the spell, so none for them. Pleased with themselves, Hazel and Gus asked John and Sherlock what lessons they had next, they realised that they were all going to history of magic. They were joined on the walk there by Hermione Granger and Annabeth Chase (the 2 ravenclaws in the same boat as John and Sherlock), and Peta Mellark and Tobias Eaton. The two boys were both in hufflepuff too, and had met Gus and Hazel the night before. They had seemed nice enough, and for once Sherlock didn't tell everyone their life stories. Though maybe that had something to do with the warning glare that John was sending him.
History of Magic had tables of 8, so the 8 of them sat down together. Hazel was happy that they had this lesson, because as soon as they heard the monotony voice of their teacher, who also happened to be a ghost, they realised that he didn't care about their education. No wonder he was teaching history, he had probably been there when most of the things he taught them happened. He didn't seem to notice when everyone started talking to each other, so they continued.
The new four people introduced themselves and after every name Sherlock stated something about them. Everyone now knew that Hermione's parents were dentists, that Annabeth had already decided her 3rd year lessons she would take as extras, that Peeta was good at baking and that Tobias had been offered Gryffindor but wanted to be somewhere else instead (though he didn't know why). Tobias had then looked very angry and not taken part in the conversation for a good 10 minutes after that. Obviously, with something like that it would be nice to keep it private to the person. Hazel found herself imagining the talk John would have with Sherlock later. She somehow kept getting drawn back to the image of John shouting at a non-responsive Sherlock. Why she thought that, she really didn't know.
Unfortunately, it was soon the end of the lesson and they were all going to go to lunch. They said their goodbyes and split off into their houses. Then they went down to have their lunch and get ready for the afternoon lesson.
