Chapter 22

As soon as everyone got back to school, the rumours began to spread about the third attack. Whilst many people still believed that it was John, most people were more scared about the possibility of them beinng attacked. Many rumours were flying around, many people thought that Dumbledore was going to be sacked if things didn't get better soon. Or worse... The school may be shut down. Luckily, to lighten up everyones spirits, the next Quidditch game was on the second day back, beetween Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw again. Hufflepuff and Gryffindor had beaten Slytherin earlier on in the year, and only Ravenclaw had yet to play them.

With this match, Ravenclaw had to win to be back in the contest- and only hope for Gryffindor to loose their next match too. This wasn't a problem as much for Hufflepuff, who could still win even if they lost this match (which was a surprise!). They day dawned in very good conditions, being quite warm for January. John had his usual bag of nerves, but it wasn't as bad as last time. Across the table, Peeta and Tobius were thinking the same thing.

When they stepped out onto the quidditch pitch, they wished each other good luck, and they flew up into the sky. John caught the quaffel and was racing towards the goal posts quickly. He passed to his team mate, who passed back and he scored! As soon as the ball left the keepers hands, Hufflepuff were racing back down the pitch on the counter attack. Tobius shot and scored too, putting them level! ten minutes later, both of the teams had scored once more, making it 20-10. Soon, John found himself with the ball next to the goal again, when a well aimed bludger from Peeta caused him to swerve and loose posession. Hufflepuff scored again.

The game continued for a while, before Tobius scored his second making the score 20-40. John was a little but frustrated at the bludgers that kept coming his way, but Peeta was very strong and accurate. Suddenly, he saw a hint of gold in the corner of his eye, and saw the Ravenclaw seeker chasing the small ball. Her fingers closed around it, and they had won their first game! The final score was 170-40 to Ravenclaw! John dismounted from his broom and joined in the celebrations that were going on below with his house. Annabeth, Hermione and Sherlock ran up to him and congratulated him on his win.

They all went down to tea together, all giving their commiserations to Peeta and Tobius, who wern't too sad because they still had a chance to win the cup. It would just be harder this way. Once they finished tea, they went to their dorms to sleep, ready for the new term tomorrow. When they woke up, their first lesson was Defence with the Hufflepuffs. They had learnt many of their spells, but in this lesson they were focousing on the expelliarmus spell. Sherlock lazily waved his wand at John, causing his wand to fly halfway across the classroom. Sometimes, Sherlock forgot how clever he was and how well practised he was with spells like this.

Lessons went by, as did the weeks. No more attacks had happened, which made everyone sigh in relief. Nothing exciting was happening, appart from the Quidditch match beetween Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Ravenclaw won 190-10, so they were back in the running. It all depended on the outcome of the final game in the summer term. Lessons were getting increasingly harder, as they were running up to exam times, in little under two months, something Hermione was eager to repeat to anyone who would listen. They all learnt to ignore her for most of the time.

However, Sherlock was getting worried. He could sense something in the air, and was sure that somehting was going to happen soon. Something not necessarily good. He had noticed the slight change in temperature to his band- it was becoming colder. However, as it was only slight, he presumed it was a warning. Something was definitely going to happen- and soon.

A/N Sorry if I rushed the term a bit. Hope you didn't mind missing three or four weeks. So, something bad gonna happen, huh? Next chapter begins the finale, which should be the beginning of the end for this story. I'm planning on getting to 30 chapters for the end? So about 8-9 days. Also, I'm thinking of doing a sequel, just not sure if I particually want to continue it as I have no ideas about its plot. If anyone has any ideas, then feel free to comment or send me a message!
