Chapter 10

Whilst Hazel and her fellow hufflepuffs had been doing Defence, Harry Potter and his friends had been in herbology. Over the past two days, Harry had been excited, to say the least! When he had entered the great hall, he was nervous to put the hat on, but only because of the pressure to be in gryffindor that his dad had placed on his shoulders.

Harry lived with his parents in a place called Godrics Hollow. Ever since he had been a young boy, he had known how loved he was, not only by his parents, who were the kindest parents anyone could have, but by his dad's bestfriends. They were called the marauders, and consisted of his dad (Prongs), his godfather Sirius Black (Padfoot), the DADA professor Remus Lupin (Moony) and Peter Pettigrew (Wormtail). Not only did he know one of the teachers at Hogwarts, he actually knew two. Professor Snape, the potions master, was bestfriends with his mum, and they both shared the love for potions.

On his 5th birthday, Harry had been given a potions kit by the professor, and had loved using it to create strange concoctions. However, when he suceeded in nearly blowing the house down, his parents decided to get Severus to teach him some things. Although Snape and his dad had been enemies at school, they had gotten over that fact for the sake of James' wife and son. Harry saw Professor Snape every Monday night for his lessons, and was beyond 4th year standard by the time he started school.

Though Snape had gotten over his quarrel with James, he still hated all gryffindors as he saw them as 'foolhardy idiots'. His one exeption was the boy with black hair and emerald green eyes.

Harry was happy to get into gryffindor, but still shot his older friend a sad smile. Snape remembered that smile well, as it marked the time when he and Lilly had started to fall appart. This time round, he had promised himself, it wouldn't get as far as that. He was over all of that business and was now trying to build new bridges, rather than knock them down.

So Harry had joined the lions and made friends with three new people, Percy Jackson, Tris Prior and Katniss Everdeen. They had made a fast friendship, although all of the other people in his group had friends in other houses. He was the only one who hadn't known anyone else coming into his year at Hogwarts. That didn't bother him, and he was happy to meet two of them during their potions class- Peeta Mellark and Tobias Eaton. They had both come over to their cauldron to help them, which had ended in Tobias and Katniss doing the potion, and him and Peeta talking in rapid tones about different types of potions and the different things about them.

Professor Snape had to keep up his facade infront of the class, but had called him back to check up on him at the end of the class. It was nice to know that there was someone Harry could go to if he ahd a problem that he could truly trust.

Harry was woken from his daydream by Percy tugging at his arm and telling him to get a move on befoe he was late to herbology. Great. One of the subjects he wasn't looking forwards to. Harry prefered more practical lessons, where he could use his magic to achieve something, not a long term project. Though potions was his only exeption, as some potions took months to brew.

However, he couldn't frop a subject until his 5th year, and his parents would still make him do it if he passed the OWL. What joy Herbology had in store for him...
