The last week went very slowly, as everyone was tired at the end of a term and excited for Christmas. Even Professor McGonigall was in a Christmas mood, as she showed them how to transfigue sponge balls into baubles in different colours. Everyone came back with enough of them to decorate the tree in their common room. And on Saturday morning, most people left for their homes, leaving Harry, Sherlock and John as three of the ten first years to stay. As there were only a few of them, they were allowed to sit wherever they wanted to in the great hall.

Their days were spent finishing off homework and sitting around the library playing games and just talking. It felt strange to have the whole castle to themselves, but it was nice to be able to walk in the corridors without being squashed! It was at one of these times that John had left to go to the toilet, when Sherlock and Harry finished in the library and went to find him to let him know where they were. They turned a corner and saw someone else floating in the air, a middle year boy.

Sherlock ran up to him and, without touching him, started to find out about the boy. He spent about ten minutes on it, before someone entered the coridor behind them.

"There you are, guys! I went back to the library but you-" He cut off, seeing the boy behind them. He immediately realised that most people would think it was him. He had left his friends for twenty minutes, and in that time there had been another attack. "It wasn't me! I was literally down a few corridors from here." He spluttered.

"Let's tell everyone that you were with us for the whole time" Harry said kindly. He smiled at John in sympathy. "I don't believe it was you anyway." Just then, Sherlock turned to them.

"Oh, hi John. I know it wasn't you, because the attacker has size 6 feet, and you are only size 4.5. Also, this boy is Timothy Thicknesse, and yet again has lost some of his hair. He is a third year Ravenclaw, Dad works at the Ministry of Magic." He looked at them, expecting them to exclaim and tell him that they got it all. He recieved blank looks in response.

"What?" John asked Sherlock. Sherlock sighed.

"It is all to do with their surnames, not them! Susan BONES, Jamie CROUCH, Timothy THICKNESSE. Their parents are all important people in the ministry. If someone uses their hair to make polujuice potion, then gives it to three people, then they are copies of the children. Don't you see? It's not random attacks, it's a way to get their real selves out of the way so that this person can blackmail their parents." He finished, proud of himself.

"We better tell Professor Dumbledor then" John told Sherlock, excited that he wouldn't be blamed any more. They set off, but met Professor McGonigall before they could get to the head master, so they told her instead.

However, the teacher didn't seem to amazed by their theory. "We have no proof of anything to do with that. It is probably just a coincidense. And you two, at least, have been found very close to the victim every time. I'm not one to jump to conclusions, though, so until we have some solid proof, I can't do anything." Seeing their amazed faces, she turned a bit softer and asked them to show her where the boy was. They did, and she took hir to Madam Pomfrey again.

They began to make their way to their seperate common rooms, when Professor McGonigall called something out.

"I almost forgot! For tonight only- seeing as it is Christmas Eve- the passwords to every common room is 'Holly' and you can sleep wherever you want. Your presents will be moved to the bedroom you are in." Harry immediately looked happier at this, as he had been dreading opening his presents alone the next morning.

"Let's go to the Ravenclaw common room, it's eight o'clock and there's two of us in Ravenclaw, so we should sleep there tonight" John told the others. They agreed, and soon forgot about the other attack in their excitement. After all, it was Christmas tomorrow!
