At the age of 13 Ashlyn Aurora Ketchum was very much healed after 8 hard years of healing, even though she still has the occasional nightmares but she's made her peace with them. In fact she was ready to start her very own Pokémon journey with her sister May who was also starting her journey actually the reason she started rather late, May begged her to start her journey with her and honestly Ashlyn didn't mind waiting for her sister she always did, they were also taking Max their 8 year old younger brother who was adamant to go with them

"You two know that you'll have to train your pokemon yourselves right, you can't always rely on me for everything?" Ashlyn asked with a raised eyebrow as Pikachu just sat on her shoulder
"We know" they both said making their elder sister sigh
"Nee, Ashlyn-nee why did you give Persian to Prof. Oak two years ago?" Max asked curiously
"She wanted to help him and I think she found a mate there" Ashlyn explained softly
"Ashlyn you don't think dad'll be upset if I became a coordinator right?" May asked nervously her Eevee nuzzling her cheek to calm her down
"I don't think so besides It's your choice so he'll be just fine with it just do your absolute best alright?" she said smiling at her younger sister
"Will you take over the gym if dad asks?" Max asked out of nowhere
"Where did you get that idea?" Ashlyn asked a bit surprised
"Oh I once heard him tell uncle Steven when he was visiting" Max said blushing
"Max did you easdrop on uncle Norman?" Ashlyn asked more like scolded
"Sorry I didn't mean to" he said hands together
"Oh alright and to answer your question I don't think so since I do want to make my promise to my papa a reality" Ashlyn said smiling softly
"So you think I could become the gym leader after dad?" Max asked since he and May knew everything because of Ashlyn herself telling them everything that happened to her
"Of course though don't forget to enjoy training and befriending all typed of Pokémon too" Ashlyn said smiling before they reached Prof. Birch's laboratory
"Good morning kids" prof. Birch greeted smiling widely at them
"Morning Professor Birch" they all chirped "I'm assuming that Ashlyn and May are here for your first official Pokémon well then lets start this shall we"
After prof. Birch sent out the Pokémon Ashyln told May to choose first which she chose Torchic while she chose Treecko which made Mudkip frown until Prof. Birch asked Max if he wanted Mudkip
"Yes please thanks so much Professor" Max said smiling happily as Mudkip jumped into his arms
"I actually have a favor to ask of you two if that alright" Prof. Birch said before he revealed two necklaces both having a single pearl pendant inside the pearl was a DNA sign and next to them were slightly bigger pearls in different colors
"A colleague of mine studies a phenomenon called Mega Evolution its where a bond of a trainer and Pokémon would aid the Pokémon during a battle boosting up their power and lots more we wish to study the phenomenon so Prof. Sycamore requested that I choose great trainers to help us in collecting data" he explained
"Wow Ashlyn these look like the stones you always find when you join uncle Steven during his cave expeditions," May said looking at the stones
"Wait what?" Prof. Birch asked in shock
"I found two Metagrossite, a Gardevoirite, an Altarianite, an Absolite and I think a stone for a Charizardite Y but uncle Steven didn't know," Ashlyn said shrugging
This had prof. Birch gawking at her how could someone be so lucky as to find six Mega stones. After leaving prof. Birch's lab they walked to a ferry that was on its way to Lilycove where she would see prof. Oak and Gary again

"Ashlyn? Where are you, princess?" Red Ketchum called out as he searched the Champion's office for his precious little girl
"Looking for this little princess?" Agatha the ghost type elite four member asked holding up a giggling little girl
"Hi Papa" little Ashlyn greeted making Red chuckle at her and take her from Agatha
"Thank you Agatha where was she?" he asked hugging his little girl close
"She was playing with my Gengar and Lance's Dragonite again" she chuckled "Never seen my Gengar look as pretty as he does now"
"Really?" Ashlyn asked smiling before Gengar floated in with a few purple bows and flowers on his head
"Yes" Agatha laughed before she kissed Ashlyn's head then left with Gengar who waved back one last time
"Princess it's not nice to scare papa like that" Red said as he sat behind his desk again
"Sorry papa," Ashlyn said frowning
"Don't worry princess because when you become a Pokemon Master I wouldn't be able to keep track of you all the time I guess this is practice for papa" Red said as he tickled Ashlyn
"No papa bad papa no tickle" she screeched out as she tried to wriggle out of his hold "And papa I'm going to be the best Pokémon Master just like you because I love you, papa"
"I love you too my beautiful Aurora never forget that even when you can't see papa I will always be looking after you," he said before slipping his necklace on her neck the aura gem pendant glowing softly on her chest "Never take this off Aurora it'll protect you"
"OK papa I promise to never take it off," she said before hugging him
End of Dream
When Ashlyn woke up she felt her face grow wet and then she realized that she was crying next to her Pikachu didn't steer once
"I love you too my beautiful Aurora" her papa's voice echoed in her head like a mantra as tears slipped from her eyes reaching into her shirt she pulled out her most precious possession and kissed it
"Papa I'm going to finally fulfill our promise please guide me through everything, protect me, May and Max as we journey and get stronger. I miss you every day papa I wish you didn't have to leave but I know now that it wasn't my fault. I love you" she thought as she stood up to take a bath before they docked in Lilycove where Prof. Oak would pick them up. After she got ready she made sure to wake her siblings up and got them ready for their day
"Attention to our dear passengers we have docked in Lilycove city" the captain announced just as they finished their breakfast
"Come on you two prof. Oak should already be there" she said as she guided May and Max through the crowds once they got off the ferry
"ASHLYN!/ASHY!" she heard familiar voices looking to her left she saw Prof. Oak and Gary waving at her and running over to hug her
"Hey I want you two to officially meet my younger siblings May and Max Maple," Ashlyn said smiling at May and Max
"Nice to meet you, sir," they both said before prof. Oak just hugged them
"If your Ashlyn's siblings that make you my grandchildren by extension so no formalities," he said smiling
"Hey that means that you two are like my siblings too," Gary said playfully as he ruffled Max's hair
"Come on we need to head to the hotel Prof. Sycamore and his son are probably there already," Prof. Oak said before they all piled in and drove off
