After the whole poucher fiasco everyone was out of Petalburg Woods with five new friends and happy faces
"Oh look there's a contest here" May said excited
"Hm yeah it does but it seems like we're too late May" Ashlyn said as she read the poster
"It's OK there's always the next one" Max said trying to cheer his big sister up
"So Alain doesn't Kalos have something close to this?" Ashlyn asked the oldest of the group
"Yeah Pokémon Showcases but there's no battling there just performing alongside your pokemon" Alain explained just before a Beautifly flew into May's face
"Ahhhhhhh" She screamed in surprise
"May calm down it's just a Beautifly" Ashlyn said holding up her hand for Beautifly to land on instead of her sister's face
"Thanks" May said once the Beautifly was on her sister's hand and off her face
"Im so sorry" a feminine voice called out as a young man and woman both had sky blue hair,azure eyes, pale skin, both having white undershirts, a black vests, and light blue wash out style pants, the young woman was wearing black boots and the young man was wearing black sneakers ran towards them "I'm sorry my Beautifly did that she got scared and flew off"
"No it's my fault I guess Vivillon's Solar Beam didn't charge right" the young man said bowing
"It's alright my name is Ashlyn Ketchum, these are my siblings May and Max Maple, our traveling companion Alain Sycamore and our pokemon Pikachu, Castform and Eevee" Ashlyn said smiling as the Beautifly flew on to the young woman's shoulder
"It's nice to meet you my name is Dinah Williams and this is my twin brother Malcolm Williams" the young woman said smiling
"Were really sorry again we were practicing for the contest and we'll things went wrong you see my sister here is an amazing coordinator so I asked her for help but ended up scaring Beautifly" Malcolm said lowering his head
"Is OK" May said smiling
"Why do you think your Vivillon's Solar Beam charged wrong?" Alain asked
"You see Vivillon is still young but already had the ability to use Solar Beam it's just the build up that's hard on him" Dinah explained as she took out some Pecha berry jam for her Beautifly
"Huh your Beautifly sure has different wing colorations I've never seen one with blue and green patterns" Ashlyn said as she observed Dinah's Beautifly
"Thank you" Dinah said smiling before Beautifly flew up to perch on May's head
"Looks like she likes you" Malcolm said chuckling
"Are you two competing in the contest?" Alain asked
"No just me" Malcolm said nervously scratching his cheek "You see my sister and I switched"
"What do you mean?" Max asked confused
"You see Malcolm here is a trainer going through gyms and league while I am a coordinator but after our last journey in Sinnoh where our dad is a researcher after he won his league and I won my Grand Festival we decided to switch you know to exercise versatility" Dinah explained as they all started to walk towards the Pokémon Center
"Would you guys like to watch the Contest?" Malcolm asked
"Sure we can cheer you on!" Max said excitedly making everyone laugh
"Thanks" he said smiling
After they all had a quick lunch the contest started and everyone was excited and hoped that he could win
"Huh I didn't know that an outfit for contest were needed" May said as she read the rule book as the MC Vivian started talking
"Oh yeah those are new rules that Hoenn adapted from Sinnoh along with ball capsules and seals" Dinah explained happy to help a new coordinator
"What are those?" Max asked while Alain and Ashlyn listen curiously
"You'll see" Dinah said grinning
"Now let's welcome the Sinnoh league champion Malcolm Williams!" Vivian announced before Joe walked on stage in a black tuxedo, dark blue under shirt, black shoes and a key stone broach on his dark purple neck tie
"Vivillon let's go!" Malcolm called out as he threw his pokeball up into the air releasing Vivillon who was surrounded by white rose petals highlighting its Monsoon Pattern "Vivillon use Energy Ball then wrap it up with Electro Web!"
"OK!" Vivillon said before shooting up a green ball of energy up before shooting up another ball but this one separated into a yellow web wrapping itself around the energy ball
"Now Solar Beam and control it with Psychic!" he commanded before Vivillon shot a pure white beam onto the Electric web covered Energy ball while using Psychic to aid in controlling the powerful beam resulting in a beautiful display of falling sparkles of Green, Yellow and White after that Vivillon flew over to his trainer's outstretched hand just as he bowed and the crowd went wild
"Wow that was amazing" May exclaimed her eyes sparkling
"Vivillon had great control over her psychic which helped a lot with controlling the Solar Beam" Alain said smiling at the display "It definitely better than a Showcase"
"Couldn't agree with you more Pokémon Contests focus much more in the Pokémon rather than the trainer and it helps display how close they are" Ashlyn said smiling at May's excitement
"True and it's important for a coordinator to always make sure that their pokemon are the center of attention in an appeals, no matter how beautiful a display if it hides the pokemon its no use at all" Dinah said smiling when she saw that May was listening intently
Malcolm had breezed through the battle rounds with no problem and defeating the finalist by knock out in just under 4 minutes winning him the Ribbon later that night they all had dinner together
"That was amazing you and Vivillon were great!" May exclaimed happily
"Thanks I'm sure you and your pokemon will be great too when you start" Dinah said smiling
"So Dinah are you on your way to Rustboro too?" Ashlyn asked
"No actually we just came from Rustboro I already have my badge from there" Dinah said showing them the Stone Badge
"Woah so that's the Stone badge" Max said in awe
"I'm sure you'll do fine Ashlyn" Dinah said smiling at her new friend
"Thanks so where are you heading next?" Ashlyn asked
"Dewford Town but before that we have to visit our uncle he told us to wait for him near Petalburg Woods I just hope that poucher isn't there anymore" Malcolm said as Dinah growled
"Don't worry he's already caught by the police" May said
"That's great to hear but did they save his pokemon?" Dinah asked worry written all over her face
"Yes Officer Jenny assured us that they were going to be just fine" Alain said making the twins sigh in relief
"That's wonderful we weren't able to help them because a weird gas just appeared out of nowhere and then we discovered that our pokemon were poisoned so we had to run to Rustboro" Dinah explained getting puzzling looks from the other four
"That didn't happen to us" Max said
"What is going on? " Alain asked quietly
"Um so uh I see that you two have key stone which Pokémon can you Mega Evolve?" May asked trying to change the subject
"My Froslass and his Glalie" Dinah said grinning
"Hm I didn't know Froslass could Mega Evolve?" Alain said intrigued
"It's one of the newly found Mega Evolutions" Aaron said smirking
"Well then this is interesting" Ashlyn said smirking
