The next morning Ashlyn had gotten a call from their grandfather figure Devon Stone who wanted to see them and so he arranged lunch
"Grandpa!" Max called out before he ran towards an elderly man wearing a suit
"Oh hello Max, girls and this must be Alain Sycamore it's wonderful to meet you son" Devon said smiling as he shook Alain's hand
"Likewise sir" Alain said smiling at the man
"Now tell me how has your journey been so far?" Devon asked as he sat next to Max
After telling him all about their journey so far and about Ashlyn's gym battle which Devon was all too happy to hear about
"Grandpa can we see Devon Corp?" Max asked hopefully
"Of course in fact you four could do something for me" Devon said smiling as he stood up
"Well let's go" Max said excitedly

When they arrived at the Devon Corporation Devon gave them the grand tour before he led them to an extremely secured room where they saw three mega stones hooked to multiple machines
"These mega stones have no identification and I was wondering if you would like to discover the pokemon they are meant for" Devon said before Eevee went over to the middle stone pawing at it curiously
"Hmm May I think Eevee knows that, that mega stone is for her species" Ashlyn said as Alain took pictures of the mega stones
"It would make sense she is The Evolution Pokemon" Alain said after he looked up from his phone
"Maybe where did you find these grandpa?" Ashlyn asked looking at her grandfather figure
"Your uncle found these near Foretree City" Devon said smiling mischievously
"Huh?" Max said confused
"Still can't ask her?" May asked
"Oh dear" Ashlyn said giggling "Well Mr. Champion is a shy man isn't he"
"Do I want to know?" Alain asked Pikachu who hopped onto his shoulder
"Nope" Pikachu said crossing his arms like X while shaking his head
"Alright then" the Kalosian said trusting the electric mouse
Just then they all heard an explosion from the far east of the facility and ran towards it only to see many of the workers unconscious and some the equipment broken
"What happened here?" Devon asked as he surveyed the area
"Sir someone stole our data on the mega stones" a researcher said before Alain noticed a man running towards the outskirts of Rustboro onto route 116
"There he is" he said before all four travelers ran towards route 116 where they saw the man take an elderly man's Wingull as he pushed him to the ground
"Are you alright sir?" Ashlyn asked as May and Max helped the man up
"Oh yes I'm fine but my poor Peeko was taken by that thief" he said worriedly
"May, Max stay with him Ashlyn and I will go get the data and Wingull back" Alain said before he and Ashlyn ran towards the route 116 connecting cave and thats where they saw the man
"Garchomp block his way out!" Alain said before he released his Garchomp who appeared in front of the man making him release Wingull who flew over to Ashlyn
"I believe you have something that belongs to my grandfather" Ashlyn said as she released her Gardevior
"Huh! What are you going to do about it brat!" the man said smirking as he called out his Mightyena and Golbat
"Your funeral" Alain said as he smirks at the man "Garchomp Dragonbreath!"
"Pikachu Thunderbolt! Gardevior protect! " Ashlyn said before Pikachu combined his thunderbolt with Garchomp's dragonbreath and the embrace pokemon summoned a green barrier to protect the humans and Wingull from the combined force of the powerful dragon type attack and the powerful electric type attack in an enclosed space
"Damn it!" the man said before a his disguise got burned revealing his Team Aqua uniform
"Great these guys" Ashlyn said before the grunt snarled at them then ran away after returning his pokemon
"Ashlyn I have it" Gardevoir said levitating a flash drive in front of Ashlyn who was petting the Wingull named Peeko
"Let's go back" Alain said before they both went back to where May and Max were
"Great let's get this little one back to his companion" Ashlyn said before she felt Alain grab her forearm and yank her back just in time to avoid being squashed by falling debris
"You alright there?" Alain asked as Ashlyn looked up to see him
"Yeah thanks you saved me" she said smiling before they separated and cautiously made their way out of the cave
After they gave Peeko back to the elderly man named Mr. Briney and being invited to visit him at his home in route 104, they all went back to Devon Corporation where Devon was waiting for them
"Thanks so much for getting the data back kids" Devon said as he handed the data to his most trusted researchers "Oh and before you go I have a few errands if it's alright with you all?"
"Sure" Max and May said happily before Devon walked back inside the building
"Alain heads up" Ashlyn said smiling before she heard an 'oof' coming from Alain looking back she couldn't help but to giggle at the sight of Alain on the ground being licked by a very familiar Growlithe
"I guess you found him huh Growlithe?" Ashlyn said smiling as Roxanne walked over to them
"Max, Ashlyn, Alain it's nice to see you again I'm sorry about Growlithe he's been a bit sad lately I just thought that he needed some fresh air. I guess he finally decided on his new trainer" the rock type gym leader said holding out a pokeball to Alain
"New trainer?" Max asked tilting his head
"Yes you see Growlithe here use to belong to an Officer Jenny here in Rustboro City but she died during an accident and so Growlithe has been living in the school since then" Roxanne explained as Alain stood up with Growlithe by his side
"Poor Growlithe" May said as Eevee's ears dropped
"I'd be honored to take him" Alain said as he petted Growlithe who decided to jump into his arms
"Thank you I have to leave who knows what kind of mischief my student could get themselves into" Roxanne said before she walked off leaving them to wait for Devon to return with the errands he needed done
