Glaceon's POV

Finally, Boltund fell asleep along with Noibat and I was so glad. (Y/n) had to carry both of them to the tent since they dropped while playing, thank Arceus for Ninetails and his knowledge of getting those two to sleep. Currently I was the only one up, Riolu went out like a light the moment he laid his head on my side, Togepi was sleeping in Milo's lap, and Ninetails decided he should sleep a few minutes ago.

Milo's pokemon were also asleep, Eldegloss got tired after dinner, Applin did the same, Zigzagoon was curled up next to Milo, I don't know when Gloom fell asleep but he did, and Drednaw was by the entrance of Milo's tent snoring away.

Me, I don't sleep until (y/n) is asleep. I've always been like that, ever since (father's/name) brought me home. Sometimes I go an entire night without sleep if (y/n) doesn't sleep, I don't mind it though.

I felt movement on my side, Riolu. "Glaceon?" His scarlet eyes opened a sliver, I hummed in response still looking at the fire before me. "You're really pretty... And.. Sw...sweet, you... Kn..know... That." He mumbled between yawns and snuggled into my side, a lazy smile etched in his masked face as he fell back asleep.

"I know that, Riolu. I know." I murmured and flicked my fluffy tail over him, still watching the fire. I like it like this, calm and quiet. I find that in moments like these, the greatest things can happen. I smiled when I noticed (y/n) stopped talking and sighed softly, falling onto Milo's shoulder. Maybe that's why the greatest things don't happen often because, we don't get moments like these all the time. They are rare and should be cherished when we get the chance. I rested my head on my paws and slowly closed my eyes, exhaustion taking over my mind.

Milo's POV

I heard a loud crash outside, so I quickly flashed outside and found (y/n) had an ash covered face. "What happened?!" I exclaimed looking at the disaster that was surrounding the short girl.

"Eheh, for once I woke up before you so I thought I'd make breakfast. My exact thoughts were, 'how about I make toast, nobody can mess up toast.' I was clearly wrong." She gestured to the black pieces of bread on the ground, an awkward smile plastered on her face.

I knelt down and picked up one of the blackened bread slices, then standing back up, "This is why I cook and you help with the plates. I bet you can manage to ruin a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, (n/n)." I smiled and ruffled her (h/c) hair, earning a giggle in return. "But thank you for trying, it makes me smile that you did this."

"Shouldn't we be entering the snowy route soon?" She questioned, her choice of words making her sound like a child. I nodded and started cleaning up the disaster, (y/n) helping.

"A few more turns and we should be there, also you might want to keep Ninetails out for the warmth." I reminded, handing the girl a towel to clean off the ash on her face.

"Yeah yeah, being small has it's perks but cold? Oh no cold and I don't mix, which is funny since my pokemon partner is an ice type." She beamed and moved to packing up her camping gear. I

I then did the same, calling back all my pokemon once I was done. Even Eldegloss was going in his pokeball, I don't want the possibility of one of them getting sick from the cold since they weren't built for it. I didn't mind the cold very much, I got used to it after years of farm work in the snow. Sure, (y/n) loved helping out but during winter she would bundle up and watch from the sidelines with a cup of hot chocolate. She insisted that she stayed out with me and refused to go inside until I finished.

"Time to get going, (y/n)." I spoke and the girl bounced up to me, Togepi and Glaceon in their normal positions. She looked proud of herself for some reason.

"I just remembered my dad put a jacket in my bag!" She gets excited over the smallest things, I smiled. "It gets better, the jacket is fluffy!!" She squealed as we started walking. (Big mood)

"I really do wonder how after everything that's happened to you, you still manage to act like a child and get excited about the smallest things." I chuckled, a huge grin overtaking my mouth. "It's one of the things I love about you."

I was looking ahead when I said that and I noticed out of the corner of my eye, a blush overtook my friend's face. And I just said that, I sighed, not knowing how to respond to the current situation. Her flush soon got deeper when Glaceon gave a knowing look and Togepi, I'm guessing, started asking questions. I feel like they know something I don't, I shouldn't ask.

Time Skip

"Look I see snow!" (Y/n) pointed and rushed to it, then shrieked and rushed back. "Snow is still cold, keep that noted." She shivered and rummaged through her bag, pulling out a thick (f/c) jacket and pulling it on. 'Togepi gepi, Mom!' Togepi squeaked and the girl nodded, "Okay you can walk."

I laughed at the whole interaction between the two, Togepi started bouncing around and playing in the snow with Glaceon. Once they noticed they were getting left behind, the pair waddled through the frozen tundra and caught up. I heard (y/n) shudder and looked down to her, "You still cold?" I asked and earned a shaky nod in return, "C'mere." The girl shuffled over to me and I placed my hat over her head, "Better now?" The act was returned with a nod. "We should be approaching the bridge soon." I added.

"Okay, Togepi, Glaceon, stay with us." she called the two pokemon back and the bridge came into view. It was frozen and the bricks were turned blue from the thick coating of ice, it went over a river that was full of ice sheets.

As we reached the bridge, Glaceon returned to (y/n)'s shoulders and Togepi shuffled along the rim of the bridge. The moment I looked ahead, I heard a loud cry. I snapped my gaze to (y/n)'s direction and Togepi fell over the edge.

"Togepi!!" (Y/n) jumped off the edge after her.

Cliffhanger!! Have fun guessing what's next because I won't be updating tomorrow.
