Chapter 35: Unholy Knight

Y/n's P.O.V
The ground had begun to shake...like a powerful force had caused it. I had to take care of the bar and watch over Elizabeth so I couldn't go check on Meliodas or the others...I hope they're doing okay.
"Everyone..." Elizabeth muttered softly as she stood beside me to look out the window. Something strong must've caused that, could it be a holy knight?
"Excuse me! Are you open? The other places are closed you see...!" That voice...Cain Barzad! Meliodas told me more about him and he sounded like such a kind person.
"Yes we're open, come in!" I quickly ran to the door and once I opened it Cain began to cry. He kept eyeing not only me but Elizabeth as well.
"I can't believe my eyes...N/n and Liz?!" Cain shouted and I tilted my head in confusion. That nickname...he did mention it when he fought Meliodas. I never asked him about that...after all he looked hurt hearing that nickname. After we let Cain inside Elizabeth and I each told him our story. We felt close to him even if we didn't really know him that well...
"Y/n and Sir Meliodas are dating now after what happened back then! It was a shock but I knew it would happen eventually." Elizabeth giggled and I blushed in embarrassment. Everyone saw it coming? Well if they knew then that means Meliodas did too! Or he's really dense and didn't know at all~
"So Meliodas survived aye? I'm so glad to hear that. Especially hearing of his new relationship!" Cain chuckled as I handed him a mug of Vanya ale while smiling. It felt nostalgic just talking to him like this...
"Enjoy Cain!" I continued to smile as he took his first sip of the ale. Even as this was going on...I couldn't stop thinking about this N/n girl and her relationship with Meliodas. It shouldn't matter, but...I can't help but want to know.
"Y'know it surprised me when I saw you...both of you have those noble features and that voice that are so like them...I really thought that N/n and Liz had come back to life! If they were still alive they would be 30 or so by now..." Not only me...but Elizabeth has someone she's identical to? That can't just be a coincidence.
"Were N/n or Liz your daughters by any chance?" I questioned and Cain shook his head. If not daughters then what...?
"Liz's real name was Elizabeth and N/n had the same name as you, Y/n! N/n was Meliodas' girlfriend." Girlfriend? Meliodas must still really miss her...I wonder if he really loved her. I looked at Elizabeth to see she was shocked just like I was...but for a split second she had short red hair and armor. Why would I even think about that...?
"Liz and N/n were knights from an enemy nation who failed a night raid on Danafor, they were captured and sentenced to death! And the one who came to their rescue was none other than Meliodas! He was the captain of Danafor's holy knights then..." That still hasn't changed here. He is still a captain and very strong...but also kind.

Third Person's P.O.V {FLASHBACK}
"You are so naive!!" Liz shouted angrily at Meliodas who kept a calm expression while setting up the dinner table. N/n was keeping her distance from the blonde knight, after all she had trust issues. Especially now that both her and Liz would live with the enemy.
"You think so?" Meliodas chuckled as he continued to eye N/n who grew angry at him.
"Hey don't look at me like that!! The only reason you did this is cuz you're after my body as well as my sister Liz's body! Touch anyone of us and I'll beat you to death!!" N/n shouted loudly and a blush soon appeared on her cheeks when the blonde began to grope her breasts. Liz rolled her eyes then punched Meliodas away for her sister but he easily dodged the punch.
"Stop touching my sister you idiot!" Liz shouted at Meliodas who chuckled and started to finally serve them all some food.

{FLASHBACK ENDS} Y/n's P.O.V
Liz and N/n were sisters? If that's true then I was wrong thinking Elizabeth and I could be the reincarnations of Liz and N/n...right?
"It turns out that Liz and N/n were sold as slaves to that enemy nation! Because of that...they didn't trust anyone but each other. Maybe that's what you would call a fateful encounter...even though they both complained bitterly that he was a naive man, especially N/n...she had grown attracted to Meliodas. Liz was a fierce yet kind warrior and as for N/n she had an uncommon charm herself. The rest of us began opening up to both of them...but that's a story long past." Even if Liz and N/n died so long ago...Cain still looked sad. He must've been closer to them than any of the other knights.
"Can't believe both Liz and N/n thought he was naive..." Elizabeth muttered softly as she continued looking down at the table we were now sitting at. She's right...Meliodas isn't naive.
"Meliodas is just very...very kind that's all." I began to blush thinking about the many times Meliodas has protected me and whispered such loving words...I am happy being by his side. Forever if possible...
"Do you know why he won't carry a decent sword around with him? It's because he's too powerful! No one who has crossed swords with him has lived to tell the tale...and he doesn't like to put himself in that position. At the same time though I think he can be too gentle a soul..." Cain smiled a bit and soon took out a sword from his cape. It looks really detailed and very pretty, if it was me I would've chose that sword over any other.
"What is that?" Elizabeth smiled as she began to carefully hold the sword for a bit before passing it on too me.
"N/n once tried to give the sword to Meliodas as a gift but he didn't accept it. I've been holding onto it ever since!" Right as Cain finished telling us about the sword the ground begun shaking...Meliodas needs the sword!
"Cain please watch over Elizabeth and the bar for a bit!" I shouted as I began to run out of the bar while tightly holding onto the sword. Now I understand more about Meliodas...he can't live with the guilt of killing anyone if he can stop it. But the reason N/n tried to give him the sword wasn't for that reason...!
"Meliodas!!" I shouted loudly as I panted heavily, trying to catch my breath. As I suspected they were in a battle...and he needs the sword.
"Y/n?!" Meliodas shouted and looking into his emerald orbs...I can tell he is not only shocked but worried for my safety.
"Take this!!" I threw the sword towards him despite knowing the pain he is probably feeling seeing something that belonged to his previous lover...
"Meliodas it's not that N/n wanted you to fight! She wanted you to live!! Don't you understand?! You're someone who stands up for what he believes in...! If that's your sin...I will carry that burden with you!!" I shouted with determination in my eyes. No matter what happens or what enemies we face...I will always be with him.
"I hope you can forgive me Dale...!" Meliodas shouted as he quickly took hold of the sword and easily defeated the monster. I hope he can finally understand...that he is never alone.
