Chapter 40: The Looming Threat

Ban's P.O.V
I wanted to come to Liones for one reason only...to see the goddess that inhabits the horn underground. Baltra said it once before that she told him things that helped him so if she can help me...I'll do anything.
"Why are we here again Ban?" Hawk questioned as he looked at the horn before us.
"I want a wish granted~ You can hear me can't you goddess!?" I shouted and the horn began to faintly glow. Seeing that light didn't make me feel happy at all for some reason...I felt hate.
"I can hear you loud and clear fox sin of greed Ban~ What is it you seek?" The goddess spoke firmly and all I could think about was Elaine...I swore I would bring her back to life someday. No matter the cost...
"I want you to revive my girlfriend Elaine! In exchange...take my life!!" I shouted without hesitation and Hawk seemed incredibly worried about me despite how badly I treated him.
"Instead of your life I want you to kill someone for me." The goddess hummed and that made me wonder why would someone like her want to kill someone? Aren't they like holy or something?
"Ban I don't think you should...this sounds totally shady!" Hawk is right but I can't afford to reject the goddess' demand. I want Elaine back!
"I said I would do anything so who do you want me to kill?" I question seriously, trying to ignore Hawk's words for me to just walk away.
"Right now he goes by this name...the dragon sin, Meliodas!" The goddess wants me to kill the captain...? If I do it...Elaine will come back to me.

Y/n's P.O.V
Merlin teleported us into the castle to be away from Hendrickson and Vivian. I recognize the hallway we were in! Up ahead was the room with the king of Liones and Elizabeth is there with him...!
"None of us can enter that room no matter how strong you are." Merlin spoke calmly as Meliodas tried touching the door but got shocked.
"I got out of that room earlier so let me try going back inside." I suggested but I was immediately pulled away from the door by Meliodas. He held me close to his chest protectively...
"I'm not taking any chances, I won't lose you again." Meliodas spoke firmly as he looked into my eyes. He truly cares for me...
"Meliodas..." I mutter softly with a blush on my face. Merlin chuckled as she opened the door with ease.
"Amazing Merlin!" A boy shouted who I later learned his name was Arthur. I never knew the king of Camelot was so young!
"Sir Meliodas! Y/n!" Elizabeth shouted cheerfully as she ran over to hug us both with tears of joy dripping down her cheeks.
"I told you I would be okay y'know?" I smiled at Elizabeth while Meliodas chuckled at her reaction.
"Anyways it's been a long time Baltra~!" Meliodas greeted the king with his usual cheerful smile and groped me despite being around so many people.
"Meliodas!" I shouted as I grew flustered, I guess from how much he's touched me already...he really missed me.
"Once this is all over I need to reward Y/n L/n properly. She alone changed my future and I no longer feel ill." Baltra smiled gratefully at me and I couldn't help but return that smile.
"I don't need a reward King Baltra! I learned from Zaratras as a child...that all life is precious. Why reward me for something I chose to do?" I giggled happily while holding onto Meliodas' arm. After this battle...I want to keep traveling with the sins and Elizabeth. That is all I want!
"I think for now I will take both Arthur and Baltra too Camelot. I will come back with Baltra once the battle is over. That's okay isn't it captain?" Merlin questioned as Meliodas nodded in agreement.
"Bye guys~!" Meliodas waved as Merlin soon teleported away with Baltra and Arthur. Once we got outside the new generation of holy knights were screaming and turned into demons! What is going on...?
"Captain! Y/n!!" Diane shouted and I smiled, thank god she's safe. I'm sure she's been through a lot just to save me...and all of Liones.
"Look!!" King shouted and up ahead was Hendrickson in a new form...? He had that strange demonic aura...just like Meliodas back in Vaizel.
"So he's got the demon blood in him too..." Meliodas muttered as he stood in front of both me and Elizabeth to protect us from Hendrickson...since I awakened my power he wants me the most. I can't let Elizabeth to get hurt...
"Hand over Y/n~ Do so and I'll let you live!" Hendrickson smirked playfully as his gaze was focused on me. Does he not understand how dangerous it is to break the seal on the demons...?
"No! I'm not like you Hendrickson, you're just a fool!" Meliodas shouted angrily and I noticed King was about to attack Hendrickson from behind but was blasted away.
"Back up!" I looked up and saw a fairy but...who is he? I don't think I've seen him before...!
"But how...? I just watched you die...Helbram!" King shouted with sadness in his eyes. Helbram must mean a lot to him...
"I hear you fairies don't rot even after death~ For nearly 200 years his corpse was on the black market and one day it fell into my possession so I gave it temporary life. It's a forbidden technique of the druids but a person can only be revived twice. With each resurrection his soul deteriorates further and his powers greatly diminished~" How can someone...be that cruel? Hendrickson cares about nobody but himself.
"How could you...?!" King shouted as he cried for Helbram...who is suffering all because of Hendrickson.
"Come now don't weep for him~ It's a third occasion to kill your friend~!" Hendrickson laughed as Helbram began to fight King without control. How can we end his suffering...?
"Hendrickson!!" Meliodas shouted angrily as he rushed towards him with Guilthunder. Seconds later Vivian finally made her appearance to hold Margaret and Elizabeth.
"Let them go...!!" I glared at her as I summoned light in my hand, I will fight no matter what!
"You belong to me and me alone sweet Gil~ Do you have any idea how my heart aches for you~?" Vivian hummed and I screamed as Hendrickson stabbed both Meliodas and Guilthunder.
"M-Meliodas...?" I mutter to myself and watched as Hendrickson summoned dark fire in his hands. I can't let this continue...
"I'm going to make sure both of you are finished off for good~" Hendrickson smirked as he started to raise his fist in order to attack. I have to do this...for their safety.
"That's enough! As you wish...I'll agree to go with you and in return don't harm them!!" I shouted firmly as I started walking towards Hendrickson despite Elizabeth screaming not to.
"There's a good girl~" Hendrickson chuckled as he beckoned me to get closer to him.
"No please don't go...Y/n!" Meliodas shouted weakly but I couldn't bare to show him how scared I truly was. I need to smile...one last time.
"Meliodas....let me protect you instead." I spoke softly with a sad smile and I could see there was sadness in his eyes as well.
"Shall we both take our leave then~?"
"No! Don't let him do this to you!!" Meliodas shouted as he tried reaching out to me...even in the state he's in he still...wishes to protect me.
"Meliodas...that promise between us...please don't ever forget it." I continued to keep that smile on my face as Hendrickson pulled me into his arms. I won't see Meliodas again...
"Y/N!!!!!!!" I could hear Meliodas scream for me...but I had to go. He could've died because of me...

Meliodas' P.O.V
Y/n is gone...I couldn't protect her even if she was right in front of me. I have to get to her...I can't let her die like N/n did.
"Hey captain~" I looked up to see Ban walking towards me with a calm expression. Did something happen..?
"Sir Ban! Please help us rescue Y/n...! Hendrickson has taken her away...!" Elizabeth shouted with tears dripping down her cheeks. Ban stayed quiet the whole time...
"Why aren't you saying anything?" I mutter and he shrugged while lifting up his weapon.
"Well~ I really do love you captain! I don't want you to suffer so don't resist!!" Ban shouted as he slashed my arm off...how dare he act this way when Y/n is in danger?
"Never!!" I shouted angrily as I punched his chest to take my arm back. When he noticed all he did was laugh at me.
"Should've known you would do something like that~"
"We don't have time for this crap so stop playing around!!" I shouted as I started healing myself with demonic energy. I have to get going...I need to save Y/n!
"Stop fighting like a pair of morons!!" Hawk shouted as Elizabeth nodded in agreement. I can't deal with this right now...why can't Ban understand that?
"I've had my suspicions for a while~ I've tried not to ask but I think now's the time...you're from the demon clan aren't you captain?" Ban asked eith a calm expression...so he's finally figured out the truth. But so what? I have one purpose in life...and it's to be by Y/n's side.
