Chapter 41: What I Can Do For You

Meliodas' P.O.V
As Ban and I fought the more my worry grew on Y/n's condition. Is she going to suffer the same fate as N/n? No...I won't let that happen.
"I have to kill you to bring back Elaine! That's what the goddess in that horn said!!" Ban shouted as he tried slashing at me. Of course...the goddess always was after me. I stayed silent as Ban finally struck me down to the ground. I could hear Elizabeth and Hawk screaming for Ban to stop hurting me.
"Seriously captain?"
"If I die your girlfriend will come back to life won't she? Look if I was in your shoes...that's what I'd do." I smiled up at Ban who started to raise up his weapon. We both have someone we love so much we'd sacrifice anything for them...
"Meliodas...that promise between us...please don't ever forget it."
Y/n...you're waiting for me. I can't just abandon you...not when I still have a chance to save you.
"Thank you captain...I'll never forget you as long as I live. This is for you...Elaine." Ban muttered as he was about to attack me but I punched him away from me.
"Why would you fight back after an exchange like that!?" Ban shouted with such anger in his voice. I know how he feels...but I won't ever abandon Y/n.
"I never said I would just let you kill me did I?! You would've done the same wouldn't you Ban?" I smirked while getting up from the ground. I have a promise to keep...
"Y/n...would sacrifice herself without a second thought. Knowing that how can I abandon her?! I'm not gonna let myself get killed in a place like this!" I shouted firmly with determination in my eyes. No matter where I am...I will always come back to her...to Y/n.
"Sir Meliodas..." Elizabeth muttered softly as she tightly held onto Hawk. Y/n has done so much for all of us...she is one of us now.
"So that's how it is?" Ban smirked as he got ready to attack me once again. If Elaine was as kind as he says...she wouldn't want this.
"Man you're hopeless! Are you really gonna try to kill Meliodas because some goddess in a horn told you too?! You know nothing about her!" Hawk shouted angrily as he ran up to Ban with no fear.
"Meliodas is my best friend...but if what the goddess said was true then I can see Elaine again." Ban spoke firmly as his grip on his weapon tightened. His pain...I can sympathize with him.
"But if it's not...then you'll lose your best friend forever. Is that really what you want Ban?" Hawk spoke sadly and I felt guilty...Ban may be suffering but I still won't abandon Y/n. I decided that long ago...
"Hawk is right Sir Ban...! Elaine would not want to come back if this is the result!" Elizabeth shouted as tears dripped down her cheeks. She stood in front of me with Hawk by her side.
"Then by all means tell me what I should do. What can a pig who only eats scraps and a weak princess do?" Ban snapped and that just pissed me off. Hawk is a precious ally who does anything he can for us. Elizabeth is there to help everyone smile when they're having a bad day. How can he say something like that to them...?
"Sir Ban..."
"After losing Elaine...I met the others. Spending time with them slowly eased the pain. It was one adventure after another...but eventually I couldn't escape the truth. No matter what...I'm really on my own. I'm never gonna see her whether in this world or the next...without her it's like I'm living in hell. Understand...?" Ban smiled sadly at Elizabeth and Hawk who couldn't stop crying for him. His love for Elaine is just like my love for Y/n...!
"Alright then! But for now...as the Seven Deadly Sins fox sin you need to do your duty! Captains orders...! Let's wait until all of this is over so we can settle things." I spoke firmly without hesitation. My power alone isn't enough to rescue both Y/n and all of Liones. I need the power of the Seven Deadly Sins!
"When that time comes..." Ban trailed off as I nodded in understanding and smiled. He isn't a bad guy...he's just someone who's lost his way.
"No matter what you're still my friend Ban~"
"...Roger that captain."
My fatigue finally caught up to me and I fell onto my knees. Elizabeth and Hawk immediately came running towards me with worry in their eyes.
"Sir Meliodas...!"
"Dude are you okay?!"
"Listen Hawk...I need you to take me to where Y/n is right away." I mutter softly as I got onto his back tiredly. Being away from Y/n...always manages to make me feel lost.
"Sir Meliodas be careful...make sure to bring Y/n back safely!" Elizabeth shouted as we began making our way to Y/n...wait for me.

King's P.O.V
As I looked at Helbram who was floating before me...I couldn't stop my hesitation. I can't kill him...not for a third time. Even if all the 2nd generation holy knights needed help...so did Helbram.
"Harlequin please...hurry up and kill me! While I...While I'm still me..." Helbram muttered as his body shook, he tried to resist the control Hendrickson had on him...to kill me.
"You're asking for the impossible...! I don't want to kill my best friend again!!" I shouted as more of my tears dripped down my cheeks. Not again...not for a third time.
"Oh yeah...? Then consider our friendship over now!!" Helbram...even now you're trying to help me get stronger. Strong enough...to kill you. My best friend...
"Spirit Spear Chastifol...! 4th form...Sunflower!!" I shouted as I used all of my strength to end Helbram's life. Even at that moment...he was still smiling. His body is gone...and only his helmet remained.
"Helbram...tell me, was I...your best friend until the very end?" I mutter softly to myself as I held onto his helmet. It's...all I have left of him.

Y/n's P.O.V
After Dreyfus used his magic to attack Hendrickson...he didn't realize that it would hurt me as well. I could feel my strength leaving my body.
"Meli...o...das..." I mutter softly as my vision began to get blurry...I can't die. Not yet...I need to see him again.
"Lady Y/n!!!" Was the last thing I heard before the darkness finally consumed me...

Meliodas' P.O.V
Once Hawk and I arrived to where Y/n was...I saw she laid on the ground in a pool of her own blood. Dreyfus was gone as well...and only his armor remained.
"Y/n!!" Hawk shouted as he was also looking at the condition Y/n was. She's not dead...but she's pretty close. I started walking towards Hendrickson and he began to do the same.
"When I first layed eyes on you...I vaguely sensed it. It was an intense ominous magical power deep inside you. I admired that great power...and feared it. But now...I have the same abilities that you have!!" Hendrickson tried to attack me but I easily dodged it so I can pull Y/n close to me. I have to protect her...no matter the cost.
"Y/n...I'll end this fast. When it's over...we can run the tavern again. Okay...? Hawk take her to safety!" I carefully layed Y/n onto Hawk's back after I kissed her forehead.
"R-Right! I'll be as speedy and safe as possible!" Hawk shouted as he started running as fast as he could. Hendrickson tried to attack then but I prevented it, I don't let any of them get hurt.
"You shouldn't underestimate me~"
"Well I can say the same to you too~!" Hendrickson had unleashed another attack at Y/n and Hawk only for it to be deflected by Diane!
"You're a life saver Diane!"
"Y/n...damn you Hendrickson. I'll never forgive you!!" Diane is really protective of her friends...strong too. Ban, King, and Gowther finally arrived as well. As long as we're together we can do anything.
"I'm honored the legendary Seven Deadly Sins have graced me with their presence~ And more..." Every Liones knight surrounded the area with anger in their eyes. They knew the truth now...about Hendrickson.
"These are the holy knights of Liones! But they're not after any of us this time~ They're here to stop you from escaping!" I shouted with a cheerful smile and with Y/n safe I don't have to worry as much.
"Ban and I stopped all the demons in the capital too~" King hummed with a calm expression and it just made Hendrickson laugh.
"Well if you didn't what fun would this be~? I'm not sure how you managed to do it but excellent all the same! However you can't defeat me~" Hendrickson smirked as he tried to launch another attack but I slashed his arm off before he could. He healed himself and I slashed at his chest only for him to heal himself once again.
"Try again~" He teased and I had to jump back so King can try to attack him. Hendrickson is only getting stronger because of that demon blood...and even with King's attacks he can still heal himself.
"I'm invincible in this state!"
"Invincible or not I'm never gonna rest until I take you out once and for all...!!" Diane screamed as she used her attack 'Double Hammer' on Hendrickson and it actually started to affect him!
"Since you're a noob I'll fill you in on a little something~ It's true that demonic power has the power to heal wounds but unless you're immortal you retain the damage. How many times have you regenerated yourself!? Combined attack...METAL CRUSH!" I shouted angrily as I combined my power with Diane's to make sure it hurt him. I watched as Hendrickson knocked Ban into a wall then started to fight Gowther.
"Gowther!" I shouted and was about to run over but Ban came back to punch Hendrickson.
"How did you find that thing!?" Ban screamed as he launched Hendrickson to the wall he had been thrown to. Once the wall had broken a demon corpse that was attached to chains was revealed...
"This creature here is the source of it all~" Hendrickson smirked as he wiped the blood off of his chin. Even if he did all this...my goal still hasn't changed. I will protect Y/n and save Liones!!
