Franco Calvetti's POV

I looked fascinatingly as my child devoured his waffles with such delight on his face. My heart lurched at the thought. I already have a son, I thought silently. Who could deny his paternity when he was the mirror image of me when I was his age? I have pictures to prove it.

I cursed silently. I never had the chance to tell my mother about him. I knew in my heart that she would be delighted at the news.

"So you are the unknown father of Max?" Roman went to the living room I noticed that his wife and Amethyst were inside the other room.

I glared at him. How come he didn't tell me this? "Did you know from the start that this is my child?"

I raised his hand slightly upward as if in silent surrender. "Relax. I didn't realize that you might be connected to him until a few days ago when he started living with us and I started seeing the resemblance."

I crossed my arms in the middle of my chest. "Why didn't you tell me the moment you found out?"

There was a small smile playing on his lips while staring at me with such knowing eyes. "It wasn't my secret to tell, brother. You must know that I am a new member of this family and I respect my sisters-in-law's private lives."

I sighed deeply and didn't bother to retort back to his statement. It doesn't matter now. What's important is that I finally knew the truth. I walked into his floor-to-ceiling glass window and stared outside down the busy streets.

"You and Amethyst, huh?" Roman drawled behind me. "I never see this one coming. We almost became brother-in-law."

"How can you be sure that we're not going to be brother-in-law soon?" I asked dryly without even bothering to look at him.

I could feel the amusement he was probably throwing in my direction right now. "Oh, we are?"

"I am not saying that." I spat at him. I didn't know why I was letting him get under my skin with his teasing. "I am just reminding you of the possibility."

Roman chuckled. "Well, I will give you a piece of advice if you want to be married into this family." He closed the distance between us and swung his arm around my shoulder as he lowered his voice as if what he was about to tell me was very much a guarded secret. "The St. Clair sisters are stubborn you will need the help of their cunning grandfather to have them where you want them."

I eyed him sideways. "Don't tell me you ask for their grandfather's help?"

He grinned at me conceitedly. "Believe me Daniel is already helping you before you even realize you want to seek his help to woo one of his granddaughters."

"I can deal with Amethyst on my own. I don't need anyone's help."

Roman stared at me for a moment before shaking his head in resignation. "Brother, you might have a child with her but it doesn't mean you have what it takes to keep her to your side without any help. Trust me, those ladies don't give a damn about love and marriage. I think it has something to do with their parent's death."

My mouth twisted with distaste. Maybe I should listen to him because he might be speaking from his experience. "How should I meet Grandfather St. Clair?"

"Relax." My good friend stated with gleaming eyes. "No information escaped the man in question. Before you depart to Italy again expect him knocking at your doorstep with all his innocent persona."

I shook my head. "I don't think I follow."

Roman smirked at me maddeningly. "Now that you nearly become my brother-in-law I will share a secret with you. Daniel—that is the grandfather—wants his four stubborn granddaughters to be married before this year ends. Believe me, he already managed to marry off two of the sisters and we believe that he is currently working for Amethyst. You know, finding her a husband."
