Franco Calvetti's POV
"What is this I heard that you are hosting a party next week for Max?" Amethyst barged in at the makeshift office in my house. Her striking green eyes spit with fire.
"That's correct," I answered calmly before looking down at the documents in my hand.
She moved even further inside the room. A frown was marked on her eyebrows. "What happened to your face?"
"It's nothing," I said without even bothering to look at her. The last thing I wanted was for her to be inquisitive about it.
"Did you have a scuffle with him?" Her tone now was softer compared to when she barged in here. I didn't have to ask who does she meant by that question she's fully aware of where I went this afternoon.
"As I said, you don't have to worry about it. It's nothing." I replied nonchalantly, hoping that she would just drop this topic.
She startled me when she suddenly stood next to my table and my heart skipped a beat at the sudden gesture. I found her studying my face seriously. "It's slightly swollen and I can already see a purplish color around it. You're so stupid to have a fistfight with him, your highness."
Even if my heart beating so rapidly right now I couldn't help but give a sardonic smile in her direction. "Don't address me with such formality when you're calling me stupid in the same sentence."
"But it's the truth." She stated dryly.
From this distance between us, I can already see the irises in her eyes. This was probably the closest I had ever been with her on her own accord. "You're so stupid to have a physical fight with him."
"Woman," I found myself smiling despite I should feel annoyed at her right now. If I didn't know better I would assume that she cares for me and she just doesn't want to admit it. "I did this because I want them to pay for the crime they did on us years ago. The Rizzo siblings robbed us of the opportunity to be a complete family six damn years ago. I already cut my ties with them permanently."
"I still think that you are stupid."
"Watch it, my love," I warned sweetly, looking straight into her eyes. "I haven't punished you yet for making me jealous on our last day in New York."
Her green eyes widened in my direction as she stood straight from her position. "What are you talking about? I didn't make you jealous back home."
"The guy in your office." I reminded her gently. "Don't dare lie to me and say that he doesn't have feelings for you."
She had the nerve to roll her eyes at me as if I was being ridiculous here. "Jackson knew from the start that I could not accept his feelings. I am not ready yet to be in a relationship. Max is my number one priority."
I abruptly stood from my chair and trapped her between the side of my desk and my body. I hid my smile when I saw the way an alarm entered her eyes. "What do you think you're doing? The door is open do I need to remind you?"
I gave her a predatory smile while focusing my gaze on her lovely lips. "Then the more reason you should not feel afraid because anyone can see us."
"Back off." She hissed at him. "I am warning you."
"As if, I am afraid of your warnings." I grinned at her playfully. I was enjoying seeing her uneasy for once.
I still have effects on her. I mused silently.
"Can I sleep in your room tonight?" I asked pleasantly like a man who was just inviting her for a dinner date.
She glared at me venomously. "As if, I will let you near my bed again even if Max will insist that we all sleep on one bed again."
