Chapter 6: friends for a lifetime.
Nasa park ako ngayon. I needed to wind up a bit, sobrang nasasakal ako sa bahay. Ina visited but she didn't really stay that long because she has some urgent cases on-going right now. She said she wanted to be a corporate lawyer but turns out she's a criminal lawyer now.
I suddenly found myself sitting at the swing here at the park inside our subdivision.
It's already past ten and here I am sitting at the swing all by myself.
I was staring at the sky filled with stars while my mind is traveling nowhere. I miss these kinds of days, where in, I was just stress free at wala masyadong iniisip. Because when you're a kid the only problem you have are scraped knees, at least that's what I only had a problem with growing up as a kid.
I sighed and closed my eyes, trying to tell my story to the stars. When suddenly I felt a presence beside me. It sat down beside the swing I was seated on.
"Ako lang 'to, potaka, mukha ba 'kong mananakit rito?" It's Kief.
Solid naman, naka all black kasi siya, He was wearing a black sweater and black sweatpants. Naka black cap and face mask pa siya.
"Potaka masakit!" Reklamo ko habang nakahawak sa pinitik niya.
Wala man lang konsiderasyon, kita niyo? Katapos ng lahat ng nangyari nakayanan pa 'kong pitikin ng ganito.
"Kamusta ka?" Paninimula niya habang nakatingin sa malayo. "Hindi ka okay." Inunahan niya 'ko.
I sighed, "malamang?" Patanong kong sagot sakanya. "Ako lagi ang tinatanong mo, ikaw? Kamusta ka?" He was always so caring yet sometimes he forgets about himself. Parati kami ang inuuna niya.
"Ako? Buhay pa naman," He chuckled. "I have to continue to survive, Kila." I can feel his pain through his voice. "It's my dream, I have to reach it and continue dreaming."
"It's nice to hear you talk about your dreams." I smiled bitterly while looking from afar. "It's time to choose yourself, Kief. Ikaw naman, pangarap mo naman."
"But she was also my dream, Kila." He stopped for a second. "But I guess she was not the one.
"Sana all," I said. I didn't say that as a joke but as something I really feel right now. You see the difference?
"When you left that day..." He stopped for a second and looked at me. "he told me to take care of you," he sighed before continuing. "He thanked me for taking care of you during those times he was gone. He said that leaving you hurted him also. He said that he loves you with all his heart, that he loves you more than himself." He chuckled. "I can see pain in his eyes too, Kila."
