Chapter 21: hindi mo'ko pinakinggan ee.

"Umiyak ka ba?" Para akong binuhusan ng malamig na tubig.

My reflex was so fast that I stood up quickly with fear. "Hanggang ngayon?" Hirap pa siyang magsalita.

I was speechless. Kahit anong pilit ko sa bibig ko, walang lumalabas na salita. Tanging mga mata ko lang ang nakikipagusap sakanya.

Hinihintay ko 'to. Pero bakit parang ngayong dumating na, hindi ako handa.

Hindi ko alam anong nangyari sa'kin. I'm supposed to check on him. To see what possible damages and trauma the accident and operation left on him. I was expecting severe damages... like memory loss... but how come he remembers me? Damn it.

My brain is not functioning well. For some reason, all the terminologies and knowledge I learned throughout the years suddenly disappeared from my memory.

I pressed the call button with frightened eyes. Hindi ko alam okay? Hindi ko alam bakit ganito ako umasta. Ang hirap maging doctor sa mga panahong kailangan mong maging isang pamilya.

"I was expecting memory loss," ani ng Doctor niya.

"I was too," I whispered.

"Damn, what kind of magic did you do? What kind of hands are those? You operated on him so well..." she was so amazed. While there's me, confused.

"I'll refer to a psychologist, I'm sure that there's a part of his memory that he can't remember. The accident was too severe it's impossible that it won't leave any damage."

"He can move his hands, fingers, and legs, none of his nerves were damaged," I said.

"You did so well that you didn't even touch or damaged any nerve when you operated on him." She said, amused.

Hindi ko talaga alam paanong wala? He was under comatose and I was expecting damages... because I have not seen any of my patients that experienced severe accidents that didn't leave any damage on them.

The majority took therapies so they can walk again or some took psychological therapies to remember some parts of how they used to live... but his case is so different. His case is so different from the others.

Tristan.. he can't even remember his mom, it left a big impact on him. The accident left a big impact on him that he only remembers a few capsules of memories from his past.

"When are you leaving Dr. Antonez?" His doctor asked me.

I smiled bitterly as I played with my hands. "The day after tomorrow," I answered without making eye contact.

"Do you have a replacement already? Now that he's awake he needs to be monitored closely."

As if I don't know that...

His sister's arriving the day I'm leaving I don't know if aabot pa ba siya o mas mauuna ako kaysa sakanya.

"I do, his sister's arriving the day I'm leaving NYC."

"Good luck with everything Dr. Antonez," She tapped my shoulder and went on her way already.

Takot akong pumasok. Hindi ko alam paano ko ba siya haharapin na ganyan kalagayan niya ang hirap.
