Chapter 16

Chapter 16: decade

"Good morning, Dr. Antonez!" Abot tengang ngiting bati ng isa sa mga fourth year residents saakin.

"Good morning," I smiled back.

"Any emergency patients last night?" I asked while going through the charts, checking all the patients admitted last night while I was not around.

"None, Dr," Sagot niya.

Tumango ako at sabay na ngumiti. Inilapag ko ang charts sa station at dumiretso kaagad sa emergency room.

"Are you having your consultation hours later, Dr?" The resident asked.

"I don't have them today. I have two scheduled surgeries today," Sabi ko habang chinecheck ang mga pasyente sa loob ng emergency room.

"Page me when you need me, I'll go upstairs," pag-papaalam ko sa resident.

"Yes, Dr," the fourth year resident enthusiastically answered.

Tumawa lang ako ng marahan bago tuluyang umalis ng emergency room.

Naupo ako sa swiveling chair at nagsimula ng mas lalong pag-aralan ang morning scheduled surgery ko. It's one of the most common approach for treating brain tumors, which is Craniotomy. I'm treating a 18 year old girl.

I was busy reading some similar case surgeries and watching some surgical videos about it when someone knocked in my door.

"Hey," the man greeted after opening the door while his head was half peeking through my door.

"What are you doing here?" Halos mapasapo nalang ako dahil andito ulit siya.

"Why are you so rough though?" He was lightly laughing as he sat down.

"Get back to your department for pete's sake, Yejun." Pailing ko pang sabi. 

He was my block mate back then, also my bestfriend. And now we work at the same hospital. He's half Filipino and half Korean. Don't get me wrong he's pogi like super but for pete's sake he's ANNOYING as hell.

"uisa, dangsin-eun neomu yeppeo," he said with his sweetest tone of voice. As if what he's saying is true. 'Doctor, you're so pretty' I scoffed inside my head. I swear he always teases me that I'm ugly.

Napairap nalang ako sakanya. "jigeum naga!" Sigaw ko sakanya. Dahil sakanya ano-ano natutunan ko.

I understand a little bit of Korean but only those basic ones. He used to talk to me in Korean all the time back then.

"Bakit galit na galit ikaw, kauupo ko palang pinapalayas mo na nga ako," he said in a sarcastic tone.

"Ampota, you sound so barok," I teased him.

"You sound so conyo, barok is better than conyo,"  aba't inirapan pa 'ko ng buwisit.

"Will you just get the fuck out, you're annoying as hell," I said with an irritated voice.

"As if you don't hear it everyday, you'll still hear me later at the operating room," alam niyo 'yung tonong mayabang? 'Yan yung tonong ginagamit niya ngayon. Ang sarap hampasin. If Kief's annoying, he's WAY more annoying as hell.
