Keia's POV

Name to note: Aisha = Ah-ee-sha

••••••••••

The beach was amazing. The sun was still slightly up. It was going to be sunset soon. People had set up tents and fairy lights, a stage and an open dance floor. There were tents with food and everything. People were having an awesome time.

"Did I forget to mention this is an overnight party?" Cyrus told me.

"Oh, my gosh, yes!" I exclaimed in shock. He smiled at my facial expression.

"Don't worry, I'll protect you from any sharks that may or not try to eat you."

" Do you count as one of those sharks? "

We laughed and walked down to the party together with a picnic basket that I had no knowledge of the contents. Cyrus led us to a row of tents where we were spotted by Damien and his other friends.

"Hey man, 'bout time you got here," said Brice as they bro-hugged each other.

"Yeah, just gotta come fashionably late," Cyrus replied.

There was a girl with brown long hair and cool blue eyes with Brice. She wore a green bikini  and wore one of those long cover thingies I didn't know the name of on top. She smiled at me.

"And whose this, Cyrus?" She asked referring to me.

" Oh, this is my girlfriend, " he said.

I smiled back at her and she reached her hand out to me.

"Hi, I'm Aisha. Brice's girlfriend. Nice to meet you." She obviously thought she didn't know me.

But I knew her. She was a gossip column writer in the school newspaper club.

"Hi, I'm Keia. I know you from the school newspaper club, right?" I said, refreshing her memory while acting like I didn't care that she thought I was someone else.

She instantly widened her eyes and looked surprised.

"Keia? As in Keia Stratuson, the class nerd?"

Cyrus' smile faded and he looked like he was about to threaten her but I stopped him by giving him my 'it's okay' smile.

"Yeah, that's me." I said back. Suddenly , someone unexpectedly jumped on my back. They didn't weigh much and I was pretty strong so I didn't fall over. The person spoke after a laugh.

"Yup, this is the one and only basket case definition. My girl, KJ," she said. It was none other than Lyrique.

Aisha was unnerved by this display of friendship, probably because she didn't know Lyrique was a lesbian.

"You look different, girl, " said Brice. "Someone should take a before and after picture."

Aisha quickly instantly picked up her camera that was dangling of her neck. She took a quick photo and left the camera to dangle again.

Lyrique was still in my back.

"Come on, Aisha. Keia, piggyback ride me to the taco stand. I have never tasted Mexican food before."

Aisha pretended to look horrified. "What? What rock have you been living under?"

She said it as a joke, although I found it a bit offensive, Lyrique went along with it as I carried her to the food stalls.

"Africa. You know, the Mexicans didn't make their way there so yeah."

" What else haven't you tasted? " I asked.
