Cyrus ' POV
My father stayed quite a distance away from me. As if I was dangerous and could spread some thing to him.
I lay in bed feeling a bit stronger now I had eaten. The hospital food was great for once, or maybe I just was strangely hungry. I felt like I was craving something to fill in the gap I felt inside. So I literally stuffed my whole face. And he just say there typing away on his phone. I had had enough of the silent treatment.
"Dad, why are you here?" I asked, exasperated .
He remained cool. "Well, I came to check on my son. Is that a crime?" He chuckled at the word crime like there was an inside joke.
" Yeah, but you're not talking to me or seeing me for that matter. "
He turned off his phone and put on his wiser-than-you expression.
"Is there something you want to hear?"
I was blowing up with irritation. "Of course! Why would you chase me in a helicopter? Why do you hate me so much?"
He looked away and back to his phone to avoid being intimate.
"Cyrus, I don't hate you."
" But you're disappointed in me, right? I'm so irresponsible to crash a car. "
"You didn't crash that car-"
"But she did. I get it. "
"You don't understand anything."
" Oh, don't I? Then you look me in the eye and tell me you don't believe I'm a disgrace for falling in love with that girl, " I demanded. My father is too proud to back down on a challenge. He looked me in the eye but said something different.
"Cyrus, I don't know who you are anymore. You have such a shining future ahead. So many schools would gamble their families to have you. You have won sixty four swim awards. And you have the ticket to inheriting my fortune. You look me in the eye and tell me why you would want to throw that away. And for what? A-a harmful, mental, little nobody?"
I felt like I should have been enraged by this. This man knew nothing about someone but still felt the nerve to insult them. I felt pity on him.
"Dad, do you remember when mom used to tell us the story of how you two met? She was the daughter of a rich wholesale salesman. You were the son of the neighbourhood grocer. You had nothing and she had everything. You loved her so much that she decided to give up the high life and marry you. You tried so hard to make a life for yourselves. You inherited the shop. You worked your butt off everyday of the week except for Sunday. You went to church and nothing could bring you down after that.
" Over time, people began to see you as somebody. They accepted you into their circle of friends. You learnt from them, got bigger jobs, grew business. Life was finally happening. But you forgot about what got you through that rough phase. The people you loved, " his face started to melt into a sombre expression.
"And soon, things happened and here you are. Working every other second. Fighting the next. Don't you ever get tired of it?"
He looked down in thought.
"Dad, as much as I love you, you just aren't my hero anymore. I don't want to be anything like you. I don't care about being somebody. I just want to live in a way that I won't regret a second of being me. Being with her. Wealth isn't everything. And if it is, then sure, she's a nobody. But I couldn't care less."
He looked up at me to say something but suddenly a doctor came in with another man in a grey suit.
"Sir, the suspect just woke up." He stood up from his seat and I immediately sat up. But this time, I made sure I stood up before anyone can stop me.
"Cyrus, what do you think you are doing?"
My legs were weak from days of no real movement. I winced in pain.
"I have to go see her."
My dad merely scoffed and made a sign for the doctor to seat me back down.
"Don't let him out of this room."
I put up a bit of a fight. But soon found I had no choice left but to sit before my limbs felt like they were in fire.
And with the swift closing of the door, my escape plan was rendered poorly thought of and unachievable.

So, how about it? Two chapters from Cyrus in one go. Do you guys feel his dad slowly(and I mean extremely slowly) crumbling to the fact KJ and Cy are now unbreakable?Love all of you who are so kind enough to vote. Votes are like the toppings of my pizza. The pizza being my hopes and dreams, I hope the cheese will keep them in tact.
