ACCORDING TO EMILIO ESTEVEZ (TWO-BIT MATTHEWS), THE RUMBLE SCENE GOT EXTREMELY INTENSE.
During an interview a long while ago, when Emilio Estevez (Two-Bit Matthews) was asked about the giant onscreen fight, he claimed that it was quite an experience. He said that it took a long while to actually film the single scene because bodies were being flung around and people were receiving real injuries from it. Estevez said that he ended up cutting up his lip, C. Thomas Howell (Ponyboy Curtis) got a black eye, and Tom Cruise (Steve Randall) actually broke one of his thumbs.
