S.E HINTON WAS KNOWN AS THE "SET MOM" DURING THE FILMING OF THE MOVIE AND EVEN GOT A CAMEO.
S.E Hinton often hung around the set even after her scene that she cameos in was already shot just to watch the boys and make sure that they were staying on task. Everyone knew her as the "set mother" and according to Rob Lowe (Sodapop Curtis), he used to call her mom. Everyone depended on her, and she said that she always had their backs. I guess she was technically the mother in general because she wrote the book, to begin with. She even gets to be Matt Dillon's (Dallas Winston) nurse.
