Chapter 22

Zane Benedict

"Mommy I want to eat some ayskwim (ice cream) Pwitty pleaseee (pretty please)" pangungulit sakin ni Zane habang nagbibihis ako.

Kakauwi ko lang galing work and today is Sunday kaya half day lang sa company. Zane and I will be having our family time. We are doing this every Sunday though.

"Okay baby we will get you some ice cream but you need to change your clothes first okay?" mahinhin kong sagot kay Zane kaya naman agad siyang nagtatakbo papasok sa room niya na sinundan naman nung Nanny niya na si Ate Judith, a Filipino too.

Pagkatapos kong manganak ay muntik na akong mamatay. Nawala yung heartbeat ko ng 1 minute and they thought I won't make it but I think I did well because I'm still alive and fighting. I was still devastated dahil sa pagkawala ng twin sister ni Zane. We lost my baby girl. Gladly, Zane became a big help for me to cope up my lost. Sa kanya ko binuhos lahat ng pagmamahal at pangungulila ko sa kakambal niya.

"Mommy I'm done let's go to the mall! I want to play some games too can I?" Zane said while doing his signature puppy eyes look whenever he asked something from me.

"Sure baby. We will play and we will get you some ice cream too but you need to be a good boy okay?" I told him while fixing his hair.

"Yes mommy! I pwomise to be a vewy good boy! (I promise to be a very good boy) he said habang nakataas pa yung right hand na parang nangangako.

Ate Judith and I laugh at his small gesture and I gave him a kiss on his chubby cheek while pinching them. He got a dimple on his right cheek and he got most of his features to me except his lips and eyes.

"Aww mommy. That pinch hurts" he said while frowning at hinahawakan yung pisngi niya na kinurot ko. Hahaha. He looks so adorable.

"I'm sorry baby. I can't help it you're so adorable and I love you so much" I sweetly said to him.

"I wuv you too Mommy!" he said and he kiss me on my left cheek.

As I promised to him I brought him to the mall and he plays there. He loves doing that every time we go to the mall. Ate Judith and I went to other stalls here and left Zane there. We look for something we can buy. We decided to go back to the Philippines in a few days. I want Zane to be familiar with the country where I was born.

"Ate Judith you can get some for your family don't worry I'll pay for anything" I said to ate Judith and gave her a smile.

"Nako thank you po maam! Maraming salamat po" she enthusiastically replied to me.

Mukhang excited na excited na rin si Ate Judith na makauwi sa Pilipinas. Zane is now 5 years old. Sobrang dali niyang alagaan because he is very smart and madaling mapagsabihan. He can even decide for himself. I'm happy that I did it well! I'm being hands-on to him even though we have Ate Judith. I'm taking care of our company here in States while Dad and Mom are in the Philippines. Skylar is about to finish his degree and after that he will take care of our companies. He stop going to school after what happened to Luna. Zane helped him to cope up with the pain.

Ate Judith and I came back to get Zane. I saw him with a baby girl inside. The girl is getting the things Zane is playing and he will patiently give anything the girl wants. Magkaugali talaga sila ni Ashton! Hahaha.

"Baby Zane come on let's get you some ice cream" he excitedly went to me and susuotin ko na sana siya ng sapatos.

"Mommy I can wear my shoes alweady! Look I'll show you" (Mommy I can wear my shoes already) he sat down on the bench and started wearing his shoes.

Tumatanda na yung baby Zane ko. Hahaha. After he successfully wore it. He is smiling proudly at me while pointing in his shoes. "I told you Mommy. I can wear my shoes! Look at them" he said while smiling widely.

We eat first and went to an ice cream parlor as what I said to him. He is very excited while he is holding my hand. I ordered two scoops for him. One coffee crumble and one cookies and cream. After the waiter placed our orders he excitedly eat his ice cream.

"Mommy you eat like a kid" he said and wipe my lips with tissue.

"Aww baby you're so sweet. Mommy loves you so much!" I sweetly said to him. Manang- mana talaga siya sa ugali ng Daddy niya.

"I wuv you too Mommy! I don't want to eat this ayskwim anymore" Zane said while pushing the bowl of his ice cream.

"Why baby? You don't like it?" nag aalala kong tanong.

"No mommy. I wuv it but Tito Sky told me that I should not eat too much ayskwim because I will have many cavities" he said like he really understands what he is saying. Hahaha.

"My baby is very good. Should I thank your Tito Sky for teaching you that?" may naituturo naman palang matino si Skylar sa anak ko. Hahaha.

Akala ko puro kalokohan lang tinuturo sa anak ko. Abaa! Nung nakaraan ba naman nakita kong hinahagis yung anak ko sa ere saka sasaluhin. Jusko! Akala ko aatakihin ako sa puso! Tapos nakita ko pang nanunuod ng kung anu-anong sadistang video yung anak ko sa youtube.

After that long and tiring day ay umuwi na kami sa bahay. Pinapahinga ko na rin si Ate Judith dahil mag aayos pa kami ng mga gamit
bukas. Zane and I went upstairs and hinilamusan ko siya saka nilagyan ng powder and lotion. Habang nagtotoothbrush siya ay kinuhanan ko siya ng pajamas.

"Zane anak come here. Wear your pajamas so you can sleep early" isang tawag ko lang sa kanya ay sumunod na agad siya sakin.

I helped him wear his terno pajamas and hiniga ko na siya sa kama. I also took a bath and change on my pajamas. We have the matching pajamas. Hahaha. I miss my pajamas back in the Philippines. Paglabas ko ng bathroom ay tulog na siya. I give him a kiss on his forehead and cheeks saka ako bumaba.

I felt a familiar pang of pain in my chest kaya kumuha ako ng tubig sa refrigerator and drink my medicines. Namayat din ako dahil hanggang ngayon I'm still taking medications. Good thing I don't need to stay in the hospital anymore. Naalala ko nung hanggang 1 year old si Zane ay sa ospital kami nakatira.

Umakyat na ako sa taas and tumabi kay Zane. He always wants to sleep in my room beside me. Hinalikan ko uli siya sa noo saka ko siya niyakap. 'I love you my baby Zane.' Natatakot ako na one day bigla na lang akong mawala. I'm afraid na maiwanan ko siya kaya as much as possible I want him to know his Daddy.

"Da-Daddy" I heard him talking in his sleep.

Yes baby you will meet your Daddy soon. I promise you.
