They had been dating for three months, and Katie thought they were some of the best months of her life.

One day in late August, just as non-year round campers were starting to leave, Travis had spurred a romantic outing on Katie.

Well, as romantic as a small theme park could get.

They had hung out all day, enjoying each other's company, and laughing at their significant other's futile attempts at carnival games.

Until Travis had suggested the ferris wheel.

Katie was too stubborn to admit to him that she was terrified of heights, so she stupidly agreed.

Now, she was gripping Travis's left arm so tightly her knuckles were turning white, ignoring the confused stare he gave her.

As they reached the top of the 'circle of terror', as Katie had deemed it, Travis was failing to hold back his laughter at his girlfriend's strange behavior.

"Something wrong, Katie-kat?" she could practically hear the smirk on his face, without even having to look at him.

"Shut up, Stoll," she hissed through gritted teeth.

"The great Katie Gardner, strawberry-grower, monster-slayer extraordinaire, is afraid of heights?"

"Travis," the warning in her voice was clear as day, and her boyfriend seemed to notice how afraid she really was.

"Hey, Kates," he gently pried her fingers from his arm to wrap it tightly around her shoulders, "you know I'd never let anything happen to you."

Katie fought to stay mad at him, but found herself melting into his arms against her will, "I know, Trav, but there's nothing you could do if I fell."

"Well, that's simple. I would jump after you."

"No you wouldn't."

"Of course I would, Kates.Through the ups and downs together, remember?"

"That's not meant literally, Travis," she punched him gently in the arm.

"I mean it in every single way possible, Katie-kat. So don't fall, please. I don't want either of us dead just yet."

She let out a light, airy laugh, "I'll try, Trav."

"Kates?"

"Yeah?"

"Together?"

She kissed him lightly on the cheek, "Always, Stoll."
