"Travis!" Katie failed to stifle a laugh as she slipped and fell onto the slick ice once again.

Somehow, the infuriating son of Hermes was a natural at ice skating, which Katie highly assumed which was why he had suggested it out of the blue for a New Year's Eve date.

The rink was crowded with couples with the same idea as Travis and Katie, with most nearly tripping over their significant other's skates, leaving the handful of people who could move ten feet without falling trying to avoid flailing limbs.

Travis was one of the minority, and Katie was part of the majority.

She didn't understand how he was so good at it. It was nearly impossible to regain stability after stumbling on seemingly nothing, even when she normally had good balance.

Meanwhile, Travis was laughing his butt off at her futile attempts to stay upright while calmly skating backwards and gripping her hands in hopes of preventing even more falls.

It was his fault that she wasn't good at skating, really. How was she supposed to focus with the blue of his eyes alight with humor, like chips of ice in the morning sun, or the sight of stray auburn curls peeking their way out from under his navy blue beanie?

Picking herself up, she struggled onwards about three feet, before lurching forward and nearly hitting the cool, glasslike surface once more.

Travis, who was completely prepared for this, as they had been at the rink for over an hour and was used to her tumbles, caught her, causing her already tinted cheeks to become almost crimson.

Snow had just begun to flurry, landing on Katie's face like tiny pinpricks. The wind whipped her two french braids into her face, but she couldn't help herself from smiling.

At camp, the weather stayed the same all year, so any time the demigods could experience snow, or even temperatures under seventy degrees, they used wisely.

And Katie couldn't think of a better way to spend a day in the city than ice skating with Travis.

Even if she was awful at it.
