DISCLAIMER: after rereading this, and some tratie oneshots from other people, I realized how close this was to @spacenams spy au in her oneshots book. I didn't mean to copy it at all, and I still want to post mine because I think it's pretty okay. I would definitely recommend reading hers over mine, and also her 'come and find me' book based off of her oneshot. If it seems close (which it does), please know that I didn't mean that at all, and I wouldn't ever want to 'steal' mckenna's writing.

Travis walked slowly and precisely, his eyes sweeping the crowd of well-dressed men and women, a glass of overpriced champagne held loosely in his grasp. He was on a mission, and not just the one his company had sent him on.

Finally he spotted her, looking slightly uncomfortable in her muted green ball gown, chestnut hair cascading over her shoulders like a waterfall.

Years ago, she would have smiled if she had spotted Travis, and acted as if he illuminated her life. But that was long ago, too long, in Travis's opinion, and now Katie didn't even notice him.

He approached leisurely, attempting to overhear some of Katie's conversation with an associate from the institution where she worked. The institution that was the main enemy of the Stridoplex Corporation, where Travis worked.

Pausing to 'get another glass of champagne', he caught the last snippet of a sentence from one of Katie's cohorts, "-the file will be transferred to Dr. Jones's office, the one on the second floor?"

Travis was supposed to leave then; he was supposed to get the file's location and get out, but he couldn't bring himself to leave without speaking to Katie. He especially couldn't resist because he knew it would exasperate her.

He did, however, speak into the recording device hidden behind a green handkerchief in his breast pocket so that there was no way he would forget the new resting place of the company's most important piece of information.

Katie's company sought after it, his company sought after it, but in truth, it belonged to neither of them. It belonged in the attic of a place that had burned down a year previous. It belonged at Camp Half-Blood, which was why Travis was so desperate to locate it. No-one knew what it said, and he wanted to be the first to find out, but Katie had had the same idea.

She was about to reply, when Travis interjected, "Sorry to interrupt, gentlemen, but I need to have a word with Miss Gardner."

"Stoll,-" her voice was full of warning and contempt, but Travis ignored it as he gently fluttered a kiss across the back of her hand, grasping it, and leading her away from her colleagues.

"It's been far too long, Katie," he said after a slight pause, not dropping her hand.

"It has been a while," she stated, expressionless.

"Six years, Katie. I came to tell you something, if you'll listen,"

"Why should I listen to you? We're supposed to be enemies,"

"We were supposed to be enemies before, and it didn't hold,"

"At the time, Travis. But that was at camp, and we were younger, and not from enemy corporations," she started to turn away from him, but stopped abruptly when he stretched out his arm and allowed her to twirl briefly, before pulling her back in and dipping her, bringing her up inches from his face.

Acting as if nothing had happened, she walked away, heels clacking against the polished flooring, leaving Travis to hurry after her.

"Do you want to hear the news or not?" he asked, taking her hand once more.

"Fine, Travis, but there's no saying I'll believe you,"

"Fair, Katie-kat-"

"Don't call me that," if looks could kill, Travis would have been dead on the floor in an instant.

"Camp Half-Blood was burned to the ground,"

She yelped and almost tripped on her dress, but recomposed herself, and pulled Travis closer, "You're lying. Please tell me you're lying," she sounded desperate, and understandably so, as she whispered in his ear.

A place that had been so many misfit's homes for so long; gone.

"I would never lie about something happening to camp, Kates, you know that,"

"We need to discuss this, somewhere more private," she nodded towards her confidants, one of whom was staring curiously at Katie, the other glaring at Travis.

"I know a place,"

"Of course you do," when Travis paused, uncertain, she only rolled her eyes, "Lead the way, Stoll."
