He forgot their anniversary.

How had he managed to do that?

How had Travis missed the smiles and congratulations that were directed at him?

He had to think of something, and he had to think of it fast.

He turned, the gears in his mind whirring with possible ideas, a small smile beginning to form on his face, and almost walked directly into Katie.

A smile fluttered across her lips, cheeks becoming slightly rosy, "What's the smile for, Stoll?"

"Oh, nothing, I'm just thinking about how my girlfriend is so lucky to have a boyfriend like the one she has."

Katie's eyebrow shot up so high Travis thought it might slide off her face.

"Yeah, her boyfriend who would never even dream of forgetting a really important date."

A smirk played at the corners of her lips, and her eyes glimmered with amusement, appearing like gemstones.

"Something like a birthday, or an anniversary. I'm sure he always remembers those. And if he were to forget, on one completely hypothetical and rare occasion, I'm sure she would-"

"What would she do, Trav? Completely hypothetically, of course."

"Of course. I'd imagine...I'd imagine that she'd be a really nice person and forgive him."

She rolled her eyes and started to walk away, "Happy anniversary, Travis!"

Travis cringed slightly, trying to ignore the curious glances cast from the campers standing nearest to them. He reached out for her wrist, but she moved it away and left him grasping at thin air.

"Look, Kates, I'm sorry, I-"

She turned to face him now. "I don't care, Trav."

"You...you don't?"

"No. What I do care about, however, is that my boyfriend learns to look at a calendar every once in a while instead of relying on his brother to tell him stuff."

Connor was going to pay. But Travis knew it was really his fault. He had been lazy and asked Connor what the date was instead of just checking himself. Of course his brother took the chance to screw him over.

"Sorry?"

"Just don't forget tomorrow, Stoll."
