Fayette arrived back in Paris a few hours after her break up with Jack. Although she's the one who initiated it, she was still heartbroken. It was late, around 11 p.m., and since none of her friends knew that she was coming back, she had no one to pick her up from the airport. She ordered an Uber and drove back to her apartment, not even unpacking when she got there. All she could do was go into her room and fall onto her bed.

All the tears that were held in her eyes fell out. After a twenty minute cry session, Faye got up and went into the bathroom. She flipped on the light, now able to see her ridiculously red face and damp eyes. Now mad at herself, she violently ripped open one of the drawers and pulled out a large pair of scissors. She moved her some of her hair in front of her eyes and then brought the scissors to her face. Without hesitation or a second thought, Fayette cut off most of the hair covering her face, resulting in slightly uneven bangs. She looked down at the hair on the ground, now even madder than before. She threw the scissors towards the other side of the room. Like it was a movie, the blades got stuck in the wall.

Fayette walked out of the room and into her kitchen. She was very close to just starting a grease fire, but she stopped herself. She sat down at the small dining table and ran her hands over her face.

Not knowing what else she should do, Faye went back to her room and changed into proper clothing. She grabbed her keys and cell phone before leaving her apartment and walked to a nearby park that she knew had a small pond.

She arrived not long after and, as she suspected, no one else was there. Slowly but eagerly, Faye walked further into the park and took a seat at a bench that was in front of the pond. Not many creatures were there, but it was still a calming sight. Fayette hadn't even realized that she was crying until a voice broke her out of her trance.

"Hi, miss," A young, feminine, voice spoke. Fayette turned her head to the side to see a young girl, around seven or eight, standing there.

"Hi, isn't it a little late to be out here?" Faye wondered, wiping her eyes.

"Oh, not really. Me and my mother were just going for a walk," The girl said, walking closer.

"Alrighty then, what's your name?" Fayette asked.

"Nora, what about you?" The girl, now known as Nora, questioned.

"Fayette."

"That's a pretty name, what does it mean?" Nora asked, still a little ways away.

"I'm not sure, my parents never told me," Faye answered.

"Sometimes we have to figure things out ourselves. I taught myself how to use a yo-yo," Nora said, pulling out a small yo-yo and playing with it, "See!"

Fayette giggled a little, "I suppose you're right."

"I saw that you looked sad, so I wanted to ask if you were okay," Nora told her, putting her toy away and walking closer, now only about three feet away.

"I'm okay, Nora. I just lost someone who I cared a lot about," Fayette said.

"Well then shouldn't you be looking for them?" Nora asked.

"It's not that easy," Fayette said, smiling at how oblivious Nora was, "I know where they are, but I'm not a part of their life anymore."

"Why not?" Nora wondered, "You seem very nice."

"Come here," Faye sweetly spoke, moving over to make room on the bench. Nora sat down beside her and looked up. Fayette put her arm around the young girl and smiled down at her, "Sometimes, we have to let things go so that they can grow and live their life to the fullest."

"What do you mean?" Nora said, confused about where the conversation was going.

"Well, have you ever stopped being friends with someone?" Faye asked.

"Yeah, I had a friend named Willow who I don't play with anymore. She plays with Cody now," Nora answered.

"Does Willow look happy when she plays with Cody?" Fayette asked.

Nora nodded, "She does."

"And why don't you and Willow play anymore?"

"We didn't like the same games," Nora replied.

"Okay, well now that Willow and you play with other people, you both get to have fun and play games that you enjoy," Fayette said.

"Yeah, we do," Nora agreed.

"You stopped playing with Willow so that she could have a fun time, and since you guys didn't like the same stuff, you didn't have much fun, did you?" Fayette asked. Nora shook her head.

"Did the person you lose not like hanging out with you?" Nora asked.

"No, they like hanging out with me. A lot actually. But, I had to stop hanging out with them because, although I made them happy at the moment, I wouldn't be able to make them happy in the future. So, I left them so that they could be happier sooner," Fayette told her, "Just like you left Willow so that she could be happier."

"That makes sense. But how did you know that you wouldn't be able to make them happy in the future?" Nora wondered.

"That's something you'll understand when you're older," Fayette said.

"Do you think me and Willow will ever be friends again?" Nora asked.

"Maybe, in the future, you'll like different things then you do now, and those different things will be similar to things Willow likes. Maybe when you find other things you like, you'll find other ways to bond with her," Fayette answered.

"That'd be nice," Nora said, "Thank you, Fayette. You're very wise."

"Why thank you, Nora," Fayette smiled.

Nora leaned in a little to whisper something to Faye, "And very pretty."

Fayette laughed and gave the girl a short hug, "You're very pretty too, inside and out."

Nora stood up to go find her mother but turned around to say one last thing to Faye, "Oh! Something my mother always says is, if it was meant to be, they'll come back. Maybe sometime in the future, you'll become friends again too."

"Maybe," Faye said. Nora smiled one last time before jogging off. Fayette thought about Nora's words, maybe they would.

Fayette stood up and walked back to her apartment, tomorrow was a new day, and she wasn't going to mess it up.

This chapter made me happy, which is weird cuz I'm crying right now. Cavetown's songs always hit me hard.
