Idyllic: Extremely happy, peaceful, or picturesque (especially of a time of place)

It was a typical morning, the way the shining sun cast its golden rays through the small cracks in your window, illuminating the small room with brightness when you awoke from your slumber. The morning heat felt nice on your skin, shuffling around with the crinkled blankets to push yourself up into a sit.

The room was mostly empty, except for the futon you were laying on and a few other trinkets piled up on the wooden desk sitting in the corner. There were cups of stained brushes, letters upon letters you sent and received from your friends, and jars of black ink stacked upon piles of blank parchment yet to be used. Besides the futon laying in the center of the room, it was undecorated and empty along with your small figure.

The shoji screen led straight out onto the engawa, wrapping around the small yard which was blooming with a variety of flowers and red maples that encircled the small koi pond swimming with life, leading farther down into the front of the estate where the kitchen and other rooms were located.

Slowly kneeling to sit up, you noticed your husband was nowhere in sight, the blankets neatly folded beside you, cold and empty. He was still as restless as ever, despite the dangers of the past now long gone, you just couldn't persuade him to relax, his antics persistent.

Your head spun, trying to remember what day it was, something being mentioned about an event occurring of some sort. Pushing yourself up, hands fixed the loose lapels of your kimono, flattening out the wrinkled fabric before slipping your slippers on. Once you slid the screen open, the sudden light immediately blinded you, whipping an arm up to cover your tired eyes.

The yard was empty, maple leaves fluttering peacefully to the grass with the summer breeze, not a figure in sight. Standing arms akimbo, a dissatisfied pout reached your lips, releasing a small huff of annoyance, which proved to be short lived.

A sudden loud clang and the preceding screeching voices reached your ears, your feet were quick to make a beeline to the kitchen. Reaching your fingers to the wooden handles, you flung the screen open, taking in the obstreperous sight.

Unidentified blotches of food were splattered along the floor and kitchen table, coating it with its sticky residue which you knew would be difficult to clean up. Pots and pans littered the floor, a broken dish with its scattered porcelain pieces glittering in the sunlight.

If they had only awakened you from your light morning napping, the room wouldn't have been a mess and breakfast surely would have been accomplished without the hassle. With the four rambunctious children nearly bouncing off the walls, your husband stood in the mist of it, sparing a sheepish glance in your direction.

"Tanjiro!"

At the sound of your voice, all actions halted in their path, multiple pairs of innocent eyes snapping in your direction. Cowering from the annoyed aura that leaked from your direction, the children huddled closer behind their nervous father, clutching at the fabric of his hakama.

"Sorry love, we were trying to make breakfast for you... It was supposed to be a surprise."

Lips pursed tightly together, your furrowed brows relaxed from their angry state. Moving aside to clear the entrance to enclosed yard of the estate, your hand motioned for your children to rush outside, to which they happily obliged. Spared from your scolding, they quickly entertained themselves with the swimming fish as the shoji screen slid shut.

Leaving you and your husband alone.

Hidden away from prying eyes, you couldn't help but release a deep sigh you were holding, moving to be held in the comforting gesture Tanjiro offered. Resting your head against his clothed chest, his grip on you tightened as the morning stress faded away. Calloused fingers threaded their way through your tangled locks, relishing in the warmth of your body pressed against his in the embrace.

"I appreciate the thought, but please try not to make a mess..."

Hearing the light chuckle from your husband, all remnants of frustration washed away as your cheeks flushed a light pink. Leaning up to place a delicate peck against his lips, the gentle smile he returned caused the fluttering in your chest to return, making you feel like a young girl falling in love for the first time, yet again.

He never failed to put a smile on your face.

"Anything for you, love."

What did you do to deserve this perfect man?
