Koi no Yokan - Published 12/06/20Koi no Yokan: The extraordinary sense upon first meeting someone, that you will one day fall in love.
»»———————————————————««Wisteria eyes, unclouded with any traces of fear, as they sparkled deep with life. Such a childish gaze, yet it was so knowing, as the faded pair beside his very own represented the saddening fate he too was destined to harbor.
Yet staring so deep into those wisteria eyes, you could forget every nervous tingle shivering along your skin, because they were so warm and welcoming. Almost like he wasn't the most important figure in the corps, almost like he didn't posses that overwhelming surge of power.
But the dying man beside that boy with wisteria eyes was proof that the young master would soon step up to his long-awaited throne. And you could merely gaze upon him from the sideline, nothing in comparison.
So as your young figure knelt to the tatami mats before the presence of the Ubuyashiki family, the kakushi bowing beside you strictly reminded you of your required eloquence. You had failed to realize that you had been staring at the young master for so long! How embarrassing of you! Head bowing to the mat as an apology, you only waited for a response before you could even think of moving.
"Okayata-sama, this will be your new helper for the time being. [L/N]-san will make sure you comfortably adjust to your new position."
The kakushi to your left roughly nudged your side in return, causing you to recoil slightly before straightening yourself back in seiza. Pouting slightly at the rather harsh gesture, you pressed your lips tight to hide the growing fear. You fisted tight handfuls of your kimono while lowering your head in shame.
You could just faintly hear the eloquent conversation of your mentor beside you along with the master's soft voice, their hushed words easily flitting through your tired ears. It wasn't long before you had completely lost what they had been discussing, because you were simply just a normal girl—inexperienced with the ways of the corps.
But despite tracing the boring patterns along your kimono's skirt for the millionth time, the uneasy sensation of being watched had remained. It was a daring choice of yours, but glancing up through curled lashes did you see the young master gazing back at you.
He was smiling.
It was all you could do to not appear dumbstruck, because why in all of the gods' great glory would he smile at you? Blankly staring back in return, your brows furrowed in confusion to which he quickly noticed. When the boy slowly rose from his knees, your heart began to pound furiously in your chest at the sight of him turning to his father—the master.
Stupid kid! Was he going to tell on you? Was he going to make fun of you? Quaking in your spot, you reminisced the times back in your old orphanage, because truly the other kids there were such terrible snitches and liars and cheaters. Maybe that bratty childish stereotype stuck in your mind, but whatever the reason, the boy's actions caught your attention.
Fearful tears began to well in your eyes at the thought of him possibly berating you, all because he was looking at you. Were you even allowed to look at him? Of course you were, right? You were supposed to aid him now, so what did you do wrong? The last thing you had wanted was to get a scolding from your mentor (especially after he warned you about how scary the headquarters would be).
