»»———————————————————««Pink sakura trees fluttered in the gentle afternoon breeze, sending a flurry of tumbling petals to the stone path below. The warming season of spring sent the entire garden blooming with life, trees and flowers curling upward to reach the sun's bright rays. Green grass sprouted along the gentle flow of the river, a school of koi splashing about.
After the dreary snowy winter, the estate burst to life in an array of color, hope and life restored to those witnessing such wonders. Just like the cycle of the seasons, one must face the harsh change of reality, braving its dangers with uncertainty to ultimately be rewarded.
And along with the rebirth of nature itself, other feelings blossomed during this time, growing to produce a beautiful yet delicate flower of passion.
Kanroji Mitsuri walked through the empty headquarters, a skip in her step as she was the first to arrive for the Hashira meeting scheduled. A little disappointed that she was all alone, the empty feeling was quickly pushed aside as she busied herself with the sparkling koi.
Crouching down at the edge of the stream, her fingers traced the top of the water as gentle ripples echoed from her fingertips. The fish skittishly darted from her touch, before curiously approaching in small movements, opening their mouths to playfully nip at her skin.
A rosy heat flushed upon her cheeks, squealing in excitement as the fish cautiously became comfortable with her presence. If only she had some feed to sprinkle upon the water, other than that, the moment was pure and perfect.
Watching their speckled bodies turn and swish around in the clear water was a relaxing sight. Long whiskers flowed along their current, only making them appear more innocent and regal.
A sudden voice flitting through the estate caught the two-toned haired girl's attention, gasping in surprise as it was indeed familiar. The fish escaped her sudden jumpy figure, quick to rush down the stream as she hopped up, hands clasped in nervousness. Mitsuri's heart pounded in her chest, a joyful aura surrounding her as she could only describe the experience to feel all fuwa fuwa.
Parting her pink lips to greet the Hashira, her delicate voice caught in her throat as you rounded the corner of the estate with yet another person by your side. A heavy feeling sunk to the pit of her stomach, clutching her hand tightly at her chest as you seemed to be too preoccupied to notice her.
Glancing down at the stream before her, the koi were gone from sight, never to return. She was alone again.
Sucking up the sickening feeling of jealousy that spread to the tips of her fingers and toes, Mitsuri forced a gleeful smile, approaching the two of you. Her eyes dulled in comparison to her usual giddy nature, silently greeting the Hashira with a smile and a small 'hello'.
You noticed Mitsuri's greeting, quick to mumble a greeting as you ducked your head away, mumbling to the Insect Hashira who guided you a few steps away from the bubbly girl. Mitsuri's heart clenched with your curt greeting, failing to comprehend Shinobu's as she could only stare at the way she grabbed at your arm.
Hushed whispers were shared between the two of you, worry creeping up to consume her thoughts as she thought of what she could have possible done wrong.
