»»———————————————————««Tanjiro lay motionless against the rough gravel of the estate, his arms restrained tightly behind his back. Blood crusted along his face, the deep cuts littering his flesh long tended as they slowly closed to heal. He stirred slightly in his slumber, the persistent shouts of a Kakushi forcing him awake.
"Oi, wake up!"
With a forceful nudge against his bruised side, Tanjiro's eyes fluttered open, wincing in pain as he attempted to push himself up, only to find that he couldn't. Lifting his drowsy head, his dark eyes stared at the towering figures before him, a pounding sensation numbing all other feelings as tried to recall the past events.
"Where... Where am I?"
The last thing he could recall was his mission atop Natagumo Mountain, facing against a lower member of the Twelve Kizuki, until Tomioka had showed up. It was a confusing event, as many things had swirled about his mind, the sudden change in atmosphere not really helping with the throbbing headache.
Feeling a sharp kick to his side, Tanjiro winced in pain, hearing the angered remarks from the Kakushi beside him. Enlightened by the fact that he was now currently in the corps headquarters, his eyes couldn't stray away from the seven looming figures before him.
A hostile aura seeped from their well-built frames, serious expressions gazing down upon him as Tanjiro played over the words the Kakushi had said to him. So these people before him were the Hashira... The ten most powerful swordsmen in the entire corps? How come he hadn't heard of them before? And he had only counted seven...
Each Hashira before him looked quite eccentric in their own way, but he had no doubt that they were all extremely powerful, along with the threatening weapons they carried. Parting his lips to speak the suffocating questions, a raspy cough left his lips as a violent wheeze shook his lungs, refraining him from doing so.
A familiar figure approached, outstretching a container for him to drink from, to which he happily obliged. Sipping the cool water that calmed his throat, he finally recognized the woman from his previous mission. She tried to kill Nezuko.
An angered look crossed his features, wriggling from his fallen position in attempts to sit up. Before he could speak to ask what he had done, the same woman from before had answered his own question.
"Kamado Tanjiro-san, you're about to be put on trial for carrying a demon with you."
Her delicate yet terse words struck something deep inside his very being, a sudden wave of worry crashing over him as he realized, Nezuko was nowhere to be seen. Frantically whipping his head around in search for his little sister, the quiet whispers shared amongst the Hashira caught his attention.
Each complaining about how there should be no exceptions for hauling around a demon that is capable of killing innocent human beings, the one figure standing alone to the side caught his attention. Refraining from uttering a single word, your calculating eyes focused on Tanjiro's, arms crossed firmly across your chest in a dominating fashion.
Something about you seemed so familiar, your features were recognizable to someone he knew, yet the name was on the tip of his tongue. In the hazy memories of his childhood, he could just faintly remember yet another person who was important to him, but their features were far too incoherent.
